Benzoic Acid and Hydroxylated Benzoic Acids in Pollen

Grana, 1995
Abstract Benzoic acid, its 2-hydroxy (salicylic acid) and 4-hydroxy derivatives were identified amongst substances leached from hydrating pollen of several plant species common in New Zealand. Acacia dealbata (wattle) and Cedrus atlantica pollen released all three compounds while two were leached from pollen of Pinus radiata (Monterey Pine) and ...

Determination of Benzoic Acid in Air

American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1984
A gas chromatographic method is described for direct determination of free benzoic acid in air samples. Benzoic acid is absorbed from air on Porapak Q packing in the presence of other compounds, thermally desorbed at 240 degrees C with helium flow into a capillary column, and detected with a flame ionization detector.

Spherical crystallization of benzoic acid

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008
This paper deals with the development of a method for spherical crystallization of benzoic acid. Benzoic acid is dissolved in ethanol, water is used as anti-solvent and chloroform is used as bridging liquid. After an introductory screening of different methods, the influence of the amount of the bridging liquid, the solute concentration and the ...

Benzoic acid tree

Journal of Chemical Education, 1970
Benzaldehyde undergoes autoxidation to benzoic acid by air, particularly upon exposure to light; the white benzoic acid is caused to form a crystalline tree on twisted pipe cleaners.

2-(Isopropylthio)benzoic acid

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1999
The title acid, C10H12O2S, crystallized in the centrosymmetric space group P2(1)/c with one molecule in the asymmetric unit. There is a single hydrogen bond, in which the O and H atoms are ordered and OD...OA is 2.658(2) A. The hydrogen bond forms a cyclic dimer, with graph-set descriptor R2(2)(8), about a center of symmetry. The dihedral angle between

Metabolism of benzoic acid by sheep

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1966
AbstractExperiments have been made with two sheep to determine their ability to synthesise hippuric acid. The titratable acidity of diethyl ether extracts of acidified urine was expressed as g benzoic acid equivalent. One sheep on a dried grass ration and one on a hay and oats ration excreted in the urine 8·06 and 4·07 g benzoic acid equivalent/24 h ...

Sorbic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Dimethyldicarbonate

1995
Sorbic acid is a short-chained unsaturated fatty acid widely used in the wine and food industry as a chemical preservative. Because sorbic acid is not readily soluble, it is usually sold as the soluble salt, potassium sorbate. Effective primarily as a fungistat, sorbic acid is added to sweet wines.
