Accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in crankcase oil

open access: yesEnvironmental Pollution, 1988
The concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were measured in automotive crankcase oils. PAHs were not detected in the new oil; however, concentrations increased rapidly with usage in the gasoline engine of an automobile.

Inhibition of Benzo(a)pyrene-Induced Carcinogenesis by Vitamin C Alone and by Vitamin C/Vitamin E and Selenium/Glutathione

open access: yesBiological Trace Element Research, 2003
The reduction on peroxidation caused by benzopyrenes by some naturally occurring antineoplastic agents was studied in this experimental work. Inhibition/reduction of experimental carcinogenesis induced by benzo(a)pyrene by vitamin C alone and by vitamin ...

Characterization of benzopyrene metabolism in rat pancreas

Cancer Letters, 1983
The present studies characterized the pancreatic metabolic system which biodegrades benzo[a]pyrene (BP), in male Sprague-Dawley rats pretreated with 20 mg/kg 3-methylcholanthrene (3MC), 75 mg/kg phenobarbital (PB) or solvent as control. Type of cytochrome involved was examined by measuring the reaction in the presence of 7,8-benzoflavone (BF), an ...

Putrescine as inhibitor of 3,4-benzopyrene cancerogenesis

European Journal of Cancer (1965), 1975
Abstract The cancerogenic action of 3,4 -benzopyrene ( 3,4 -BP) can be reduced by substances physiologically occurring in organism of several animal species and human beings, as well as by a number of synthetically-prepared compounds. Experimental investigations on female mice (IMRI-strains, 4–5 weeks old, 20–25 g of body weight) have revealed ...

Synthesis of Chrysoporphyrins and a Related Benzopyrene-Fused System

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
Reaction of 6-nitrochrysene with ethyl isocyanoacetate in the presence of a non-nucleophilic base gave a c-annulated pyrrole ethyl ester that was used to prepare chrysene-fused tripyrranes and a chrysopyrrole dialdehyde. Chrysene-fused tripyrranes were reacted with a pyrrole dialdehyde, but poor yields of chrysoporphyrins were obtained.

Trimer exciplex emission in benzopyrene

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1980
The authors study the emission spectra taken for 3,4,9,10-dibenzopyrene in benzene, when the main pulsed N2 laser beam (3371 Å) was used as a source of excitation.(AIP)
