A Photoredox Radical‐Polar Crossover Reaction for the Preparation of Monoprotected Dicarbonyl Compounds

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 6, 13 February 2026.
An ATRA‐based, Ru‐photocatalyzed radical‐polar crossover reaction for the preparation of monoprotected dicarbonyl compounds is reported. This procedure is based on the capture of a cationic intermediate, arising from the radical step, with diverse nucleophiles.

Genetic Encoding of a Trifunctional Photo‐Cross‐Linker with a Cleavable Alkyl Ester Moiety

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
A novel noncanonical amino acid, DiZAAsu, possessing photo‐cross‐linking, biotinylation, and alkaline‐cleavable functionalities, is genetically encoded by an engineered pyrrolyl‐tRNA synthetase mutant. The alkyl ester moiety expands the design space of cleavable photo‐cross‐linkable amino acids.

Synergistic Effects of Electricity and Light for Efficient Iron‐Catalyzed Recycling of Polystyrene Waste

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 7, 9 February 2026.
The synergistic interplay of electricity, light and earth‐abundant, nontoxic iron catalysis allowed for the efficient recycling of post‐consumer polymers into value‐added products. This robust depolymerization strategy was viable on multigram‐scale, where the cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction presents an attractive opportunity for a green hydrogen ...

Alkynyltriazenes in Photochemical Metal‐Free Doyle–Kirmse Rearrangements

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 7, 9 February 2026.
A metal‐ and additive‐free photocatalytic Doyle–Kirmse reaction of alkynyl triazenes is described, proceeding via cyanocarbene intermediates. This strategy enables the efficient construction of highly substituted asymmetric carbon centers with broad substrate scope, delivering synthetically valuable nitriles.

Strain‐Release Diversification of 1‐Azabicyclobutanes via Bromide/Nickel Relay Catalyzed 1,3‐Bis‐Carbofunctionalization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 7, 9 February 2026.
A four‐component synthesis of azetidines with an all‐carbon quaternary center via strain‐release 1,3‐bis‐carbofunctionalization of 1‐azabicyclobutanes (ABB) is described. Each reaction component can be modified to permit a high‐throughput‐like library preparation, producing azetidines with various appendages, including biorelevant molecules.

Exploring the Uncharted Indolizine Chemical Space: Construction of 5‐Acylindolizines via a Domino Aldol–Vinylogous Aldol Process

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 3, 3 February 2026.
A domino aldol condensation–intramolecular vinylogous aldol condensation process was implemented for the first time to enable access to a wide range of novel 5‐acylated indolizines with a hydrogen, an alkyl, an aryl, or an alkoxy moiety at the C7 site.

Rhodium Multitasking Catalysis Integrating Long‐Range Isomerization, Cycloisomerization, and Hydrosilylation of 1,n‐Dienes to Give 2,3‐Disubstituted Dihydrobenzofurans: Mechanistic Insight Into Functionalization‐Controlled Reactivity

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 3, 3 February 2026.
We discovered a rhodium catalyst that performs sequential long‐range isomerization, cycloisomerization, and hydrosilylation of 1,n‐dienes to yield silylated 2,3‐disubstituted dihydrobenzofurans. This unprecedented multitasking system also demonstrates that the choice of hydrosilylation reagent significantly affects the alkene‐isomerization equilibrium,
