Photolysis of benzyl halides and benzyl acetate in alcohols
Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1977Solvolysis products and products derived by non-ionic mechanisms are obtained by either direct or sensitised photolysis of benzyl halides or benzyl acetate in alcohols; the sensitised solvolysis pathway appears to be facilitated by the solvation energies of ion-pair intermediates in relation to those of precursor radical-pairs.

Benzylation of benzene with benzyl alcohol on zeolite catalysts
Applied Catalysis A: General, 2011Abstract The catalytic liquid phase benzylation of benzene to diphenylmethane (DPM) with benzyl alcohol (BnOH) was investigated over various zeolite catalysts (HSZ 600 mordenite, CBV 20A mordenite, H-beta zeolites with Si/Al of 10.8 and 35.8, respectively) at 353–423 K and under atmospheric pressure, using three reaction methodologies: (A) by adding ...

Is Benzyl Alcohol an Allergen?
Archives of Dermatology, 1985To the Editor.— We read with interest the article by Shmunes 1 in the SeptemberArchivesconcerning allergic dermatitis to benzyl alcohol. The author implicated 1% benzyl alcohol as a perservative in sodium tetradecyl sulfate as being the cause for the development of tender, slightly pruritic, dermal plaques at the sites of injection sclerotherapy for ...
