Structured Demographic Buffering: A Framework to Explore the Environmental Components and Demographic Mechanisms Underlying Demographic Buffering. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Lett
Demographic buffering quantifies the degree to which a population's demographic rates reduce the negative impacts of environmental stochasticity. Here, we show that temporal variance and autocorrelation impact demographic buffering through different mechanisms. ABSTRACT Environmental stochasticity is a key determinant of population viability.
