Compact Operators on the Bergman Spaces with Variable Exponents on the Unit Disc of C

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2018
We study the compactness of some classes of bounded operators on the Bergman space with variable exponent. We show that via extrapolation, some results on boundedness of the Toeplitz operators with general L1 symbols and compactness of bounded operators ...

Apex predators exploit advantageous snow conditions across hunting modes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Advantageous snow conditions—in terms of snow depth and density—are among the most important features of the winter landscape for two apex predators, regardless of hunting strategy. In a warming climate, the knock‐on effects of a diminishing snowpack may reduce the hunting success of multiple large carnivore species.

Bicomplex Bergman spaces on bounded domains

open access: yes, 2018
The bicomplex Bergman spaces are studied for any bounded bicomplex domain. Its Bergman kernel is computed in terms of the kernels of the complex projections of the domain.

Collaboration is essential for reliable conservation modelling: Lessons from the Mexican wolf recovery program and a response to Louchouarn et al. (2025)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, EarlyView.
Conservation programmes like the Mexican wolf recovery program can have substantial ecological noise. Scientists with no on‐the‐ground field knowledge should work collaboratively with personnel from restoration programmes so that important programmatic knowledge is incorporated into analyses appropriately. Abstract The Mexican wolf (Canis lupus baileyi)

A Berezin-type map and a class of weighted composition operators

open access: yesConcrete Operators, 2017
In this paper we consider the map L defined on the Bergman space La2(𝔺+)$L_a^2({{\rm\mathbb{C}}_{\rm{ + }}})$ of the right half plane ℂ+ by (Lf)(w)=πM′(w)∫𝔺+(fM′)(s)|bw(s)|2dA˜(s)$(Lf)(w) = \pi M'(w)\int\limits_{{{\rm\mathbb{C}}_{\rm{ + }}}} {\left( {{f \

Advancing academic freedom and collegiality

open access: yesGeographical Research, EarlyView.
Abstract The Institute of Australian Geographers encourages members to speak out in support of academic freedom. Academic freedom must be advanced to further the public good. Collegiality, including collegiate decision‐making, is fundamental to academic freedom.

Market orientation and national homicide rates

open access: yesCriminology, EarlyView.
Abstract We studied the influence of market orientation on national homicide rates. Multiple theoretical traditions equate the development and dominance of markets with higher crime rates. Some traditional sociological theoretical claims, however, suggest market expansion should reduce violence.
