Micronutrient deficiencies after pancreatico‐duodenectomy: A narrative review of the literature and recommendations for clinical practice

Abstract Micronutrient uptake is impaired after pancreatico‐duodenectomy (PD) because of malabsorption, reduced absorptive capacity, and poor oral intake. Biochemical depletion is reported in cohort studies, but deficiency states are predominantly reported in case reports, making it difficult to assess occurrence rates.

Thiamine Concentration in Human Milk Is Correlated With Maternal and Infant Thiamine Status: A Cross‐Sectional Analysis of the Lao Thiamine Study

Thiamine status of breastfed infants < 6 months of age is correlated with human milk thiamine concentration, which in turn is strongly correlated with maternal thiamine status in northern Lao PDR. Improving maternal thiamine status is important for the health and wellbeing of both mother and infant.

We searched Embase, Medline, and Cochrane databases. Overweight and obesity proportions were pooled into a meta‐analysis and compared with national prevalences.
