Geometrical Properties of Conformal Field Theories Coupled to Two-Dimensional Quantum Gravity

open access: yes, 1994
In this work we discuss an approach due to F. David to the geometry of world sheets of non-critical strings in quasiclassical approximation. The gravitational dressed conformal dimension is related to the scaling behavior of the two-point function with ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

“Jewish Building” in the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic after the Holocaust. Possibilities, Limits, Spaces

open access: yesArts, 2020
As early as the first months after the Second World War had ended, newly founded Jewish communities were beginning to form in Germany. These communities were established further in the years to follow, in the course of which new synagogues and community ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Künstlerinnen International (1877-1977): a ghost exhibition in the German feminist historical memory

open access: yespiano b
On 9 March 1977, 'Künstlerinnen International (1877-1977)' opened in Charlottenburg, Berlin, a survey of international women's art over the last hundred years, inspired by the 1976 exhibition in Los Angeles.

Braneworlds and Quantum States of Relativistic Shells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We review some applications of relativistic shells that are relevant in the context of quantum gravity/quantum cosmology. Using a recently developed approach, the stationary states of this general relativistic system can be determined in the ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Co-Creation of Local Development and Effective Public Participation. Sozialer Zusammenhalt („Social Cohesion”) Programme in Berlin as an Example of Practice

open access: yesPolish Political Science Yearbook, 2023
Co-creation of public policy can be considered a democratic innovation, all the more so as this approach seems to secure the possibility of „redefining what is democracy”. Understood this way, it is a direct source of changes in urban governance systems.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.
