Breakthrough Solution for Antimicrobial Resistance Detection: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy‐based on Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView., 2023
This review discusses the use of Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for detecting antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Various SERS studies used with AI techniques, including machine learning and deep learning, are analyzed for their advantages and limitations.

Simulation Model for Digital Twins of Pneumatic Vacuum Ejectors

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 46, Issue 1, Page 71-79, January 2023., 2023
A novel concept for modeling and simulating the fluidic behavior of pneumatic vacuum ejectors as key components of vacuum handling systems is proposed. To increase the simulation accuracy, the concept can access instance‐specific data instead of object‐specific data.

Canadian contributions to environmetrics

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1355-1386, December 2022., 2022
Abstract This article focuses on the importance of collaboration in statistics by Canadian researchers and highlights the contributions that Canadian statisticians have made to many research areas in environmetrics. We provide a discussion about different vehicles that have been developed for collaboration by Canadians in the environmetrics context as ...

Mission‐centric decision support in cybersecurity via Bayesian Privilege Attack Graph

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 4, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
We propose a mission‐centric approach to assessing the risks of cyber attacks on the organization's mission and provide decision support to network security administrators. Our approach uses a unique stochastic model that connects vulnerability impacts to the mission's security requirements and allows selecting the most resilient configuration of ...

Conditional hazard for simplified multi‐site seismic hazard and risk analyses

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 482-499, February 2023., 2023
Abstract The joint probability distribution of different intensity measures (IMs)$( {IMs} )$ at different sites in one earthquake is needed to define the stochastic process regulating the exceedance (in time) of the IMs$IMs$ at the ensemble of the sites, which in turn is a funding element of the so‐called multi‐site probabilistic seismic hazard ...

Modelling interactions between waves and diffused interfaces

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 95, Issue 2, Page 215-241, February 2023., 2023
When simulating multiphase compressible flows using the diffuse‐interface methods, important issues arise during the interaction of waves with diffused interfaces. A solution is to use a pressure‐disequilibrium model with finite, instead of infinite, pressure‐relaxation rate.

A 3D fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow solver for efficient simulations of large‐scale free‐surface waves

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 124, Issue 1, Page 119-158, 15 January 2023., 2023
Abstract In the quest for a numerical method for surface waves and wave‐induced effects applicable when linear or weakly nonlinear methods are insufficient, a three‐dimensional numerical wave tank assuming fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow theory is proposed.

Efficient formulation of a two‐noded geometrically exact curved beam element

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 124, Issue 3, Page 570-619, 15 February 2023., 2023
Abstract The article extends the formulation of a 2D geometrically exact beam element proposed by Jirásek et al. (2021) to curved elastic beams. This formulation is based on equilibrium equations in their integrated form, combined with the kinematic relations and sectional equations that link the internal forces to sectional deformation variables.

Validation of the French version of the Multiple Sclerosis Intimacy and Sexuality Questionnaire 15 Tools which help nurse for assessing the effect of perceived multiple sclerosis symptoms on sexual activity and satisfaction

open access: yesNursing Open, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 570-578, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim To validate a French version of the Multiple Sclerosis Intimacy and Sexuality Questionnaire 15 which examines patients’ perception of the effect of multiple sclerosis symptoms on their sexual activity. Methods After completing a translation/re‐translation process to ensure linguistic and content validity, the Multiple Sclerosis Intimacy ...

Study of plasma parameters and gas heating in the voltage range of nondischarge to full‐discharge in a methane‐fed dielectric barrier discharge

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 20, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
In methane plasma created in dielectric barrier discharge considered in this study, gas temperature shows a nonlinear behavior with gas flow change. It appears due to simultaneous changes of the residence time and background pressure (according to Bernoulli's principal).
