Prandtl–Batchelor flow past a flat plate with a forward-facing flap [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Two-dimensional steady inviscid flow past an inclined flat plate with a forward-facing flap attached to the rear edge is considered for the case when a vortex sheet separates from the leading edge of the flat plate and reattaches at the leading edge of ...

Formal and non-formal approaches to the notion of "Risk" : a historical perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The paper will focus on the early texts of Galileo Galilei (1613~1623) and Daniel Bernoulli (1738) as examples of pure combinatorical analysis and perspectively considerations within the mathematical discipline of probability theory.

1D finite element for modelling of turbine blade vibration in the field of centrifugal forces

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2019
The paper deals with the modelling of turbine blade vibrations by means of a novel 1D finite element that has only 16 degrees of freedom. Assuming linear elastic behaviour of the blade material and considering small displacements and strains, the derived

Bernoulli Principle in Ferroelectrics

open access: yesNanomaterials
Ferroelectric materials, characterized by spontaneous electric polarization, exhibit remarkable parallels with fluid dynamics, where polarization flux behaves similarly to fluid flow. Understanding polarization distribution in confined geometries at the nanoscale is crucial for both fundamental physics and technological applications. Here, we show that

Unsteady Flow in Cavitating Turbopumps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Unsteady flow in a cavitating axial inducer pump is analyzed with the help of a simple two-dimensional cascade model. This problem was motivated by a desire to study the effect of unsteady cavitation on the so-called POGO instability in the operation of ...

A Laminating Strategy to Manyfold Enhance the Elastic Stretchability of Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose a laminating strategy that laminates a thick‐polymer layer onto the thin‐ribbon metallic structure. Using serpentine structures on soft and hard substrates as representative cases, this approach increases elastic stretchability by 3.5‐fold and 2.3‐fold.

Increasing the Efficiency of Wind Turbines

open access: yesTribology in Industry
The research work is devoted to the improvement of wind turbines. Wind turbines do not work when the minimum wind speed is 5 m/s. However, they ensure their operability when the wind speed exceeds 6 m/s.
