Nonconvective Forces: A Critical and Often Ignored Component in the Echocardiographic Assessment of Transvalvular Pressure Gradients

open access: yesCardiology Research and Practice, 2012
Echocardiography is routinely used to assess ventricular and valvular function, particularly in patients with known or suspected cardiac disease and who have evidence of hemodynamic compromise. A cornerstone to the use of echocardiographic imaging is not

On relativistic hydrodynamics: bernoulli process equations

open access: yesPhysica Scripta
Abstract A relativistic covariant description of a Bernoulli process is presented in terms of a set of two fundamental equations: Newton’s second law and the first law of thermodynamics. The set is first obtained in the rest frame of the process S, then in a frame

Forecasting Count Data With Varying Dispersion: A Latent‐Variable Approach

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Count data, such as product sales and disease case counts, are common in business forecasting and many areas of science. Although the Poisson distribution is the best known model for such data, its use is severely limited by its assumption that the dispersion is a fixed function of the mean, which rarely holds in real‐world scenarios.

On the Comovement of Contango and Backwardation Across Futures Commodity Markets

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine the time‐varying nature of the comovement of the slope of the futures curve in major agricultural, metals and energy commodity futures markets in a Global Vector Autoregressive model. We find significant comovement between the slopes, indicating the co‐existence of backwardation and contango in many seemingly unrelated commodity ...

Novel exact traveling wave solutions of the space-time fractional Sharma Tasso-Olver equation via three reliable methods

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
The dominant intention of this article is to extract the new exact traveling waves solutions of the nonlinear space-time fractional Sharma-Tasso-Olver equation in the sense of beta-derivative by using three integration schemes namely, Riccati-Bernoulli ...

Some Wave Simulation Properties of the (2+1) Dimensional Breaking Soliton Equation

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2017
In this paper, we apply an efficient method which is improved Bernoulli sub-equation function method (IBSEFM) to (2+1) dimensional Breaking Soliton equation. It gives some new wave simulations like complex and exponential structures.

Analysis of Upper Airway Morphology Using Four‐Dimensional Dynamic MRI With Active Deep Learning‐Based Automatic Segmentation

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Upper‐airway morphology changes during breathing can be captured with cine 4D MRI. Active‐learning nnU‐Net reduces manual labeling while maintaining accuracy. Purpose For automatic upper airway segmentation on free‐breathing cine 4D MRI using active learning and quantifying dynamic changes under two mouth positions.

Diverse soliton wave profile assessment to the fractional order nonlinear Landau-Ginzburg-Higgs and coupled Boussinesq-Burger equations

open access: yesResults in Physics
The space–time fractional Landau-Ginzburg-Higgs equation and coupled Boussinesq-Burger equation describe the behavior of nonlinear waves in the tropical and mid-latitude troposphere, exhibiting weak scattering, extended connections, arising from the ...

Population dynamics, survival, and movements of Texas tortoises in a national park in southern Texas

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Texas tortoise abundance in a small national park in South Texas, USA, declined by >25%, from an estimated 273 tortoises in 2014 to 204 tortoises in 2024. The severity of the decline varied across survey units, but abundance remained highest in areas having greater canopy cover and experiencing less invasion by Guinea grass.

A highly accurate numerical method for solving boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik equation

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
A highly accurate numerical method is given for the solution of boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik (BgT) equation with Caputo derivative of order 0<β<2$$ 0<\beta <2 $$ by using the collocation‐shooting method (C‐SM). The collocation solution is constructed in the space Sm+1(1)$$ {S}_{m+1}^{(1)} $$ as piecewise polynomials of degree at ...
