A Miniaturized Transverse Thermoelectric Device for Efficient Energy Harvesting and its Capacitive Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A compact transverse thermoelectric device harnessing the anomalous Nernst and spin Seebeck effects enables on‐chip energy harvesting from waste heat in microelectronics. Constructed on a silicon substrate with a CoTb‐based heterostructure, the device generates over 10 mV without external magnetic fields, and stores the harvested energy in a capacitor ...

Next Nearest Neighbors Effects on Berry Curvature of Graphene

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper energy bands and Berry curvature of graphene was studied. Desired Hamiltonian regarding the next-nearest neighbors was obtained by tight-binding model.

Quantum spin-Hall effect on the M\"obius graphene ribbon

open access: yes, 2019
Topological phases of matter have revolutionized quantum engineering. Implementing a curved space Dirac equation solver based on the quantum Lattice Boltzmann method, we study the topological and geometrical transport properties of a M\"obius graphene ...

Relation of Continuous Chirality Measure to Spin and Orbital Polarization, and Chiroptical Properties in Solids

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work quantifies chirality through the continuous chirality measure (CCM). The CCM is correlated to a variety of properties: spin‐orbit field, orbital angular momentum, circular dichroism, absorption dissymmetry factor (gCD) and the circular photogalvanic effect.

On calculating the Berry curvature of Bloch electrons using the KKR method

open access: yes, 2011
We propose and implement a particularly effective method for calculating the Berry curvature arising from adiabatic evolution of Bloch states in wave vector k space.

Illuminating Quantum Phenomena in 2D Materials: The Power of Optical Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically thin 2D materials host quantum tunnelling, plasmonic and excitonic phenomena driven by reduced dimensionality and strong many‐body interactions. This review links these effects to state‐of‐the‐art optical probes—NSOM, pump–probe, CARS, TRR, and optical frequency comb spectroscopy—highlighting how their ultrahigh spatial–temporal resolution ...

Methodology for Topological Interface Engineering in 2D Photonic Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces an automated framework for topological photonic crystal design. It features an iterative band connection method for identifying band crossings, a data‐driven approach for band symmetry recognition, and analysis of how topological mode dispersion trades off with photonic band‐gap size.

Geometrodynamics of polarized light: Berry phase and spin Hall effect in a gradient-index medium

open access: yes, 2009
We review the geometrical-optics evolution of an electromagnetic wave propagating along a curved ray trajectory in a gradient-index dielectric medium. A Coriolis-type term appears in Maxwell equations under transition to the rotating coordinate system ...

Sensitive Sub‐THz Photodetection in Twisted Graphene with Broad Spectral Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A dual‐gated twisted monolayer–bilayer graphene (TMBG) phototransistor enables ultrabroadband detection spanning visible to sub‐THz regimes. Gate‐tunable moiré bands produce photothermoelectric responses at zero bias and bolometric responses under applied bias.

Ferroelectric Properties of Bilayer MoS2/WS2 Heterostructure Modulated by Twist Angle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study reports the precise control of interlayer twist angles in the bilayer MoS2/WS2 heterostructure. The ferroelectric properties of MoS2/WS2 heterostructure can be significantly modulated by designing twist angles, resulting from the distortion of polar symmetric regions induced by Moiré patterns.
