Geographical variability in dabigatran dosing within New Zealand

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Dabigatran etexilate is an oral anticoagulant with increased risk of bleeding at high drug exposure. It is available in three capsule strengths (75, 110 and 150 mg). We analysed New Zealand dispensing data from 2019 to 2023 to compare use between health districts. Overall use was similar across districts.

Potential for post‐fire recovery of Greater Sage‐grouse habitat

open access: yesEcosphere, 2019
In the western United States, fire has become a significant concern in the management of big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata Nutt.) ecosystems. This is due to large‐scale increases in cover of the fire‐prone invasive annual cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum L.)

Genomic and Physiological Insights Into Heat–Drought Tolerance in Wheat Through GWAS and Phenotypic Evaluation

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change‐driven heat and drought stresses during reproductive stages significantly threaten wheat productivity. To investigate the genetic and physiological basis of combined heat–drought (HD) tolerance, we evaluated 345 wheat genotypes under three environments of HD stresses, non‐stress glasshouse conditions and a late‐sowing field ...

Extending Māori Concepts in Secondary School Geography

open access: yesNew Zealand Geographer, Volume 82, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Secondary school geography brings together tāngata (people) and whenua (land), the central concepts of te ao Māori (the Māori world). Therefore, geography is ideally placed to respond to calls for mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) to gain “equal status” with Western knowledge.

Wildlife damage to crops: Perceptions of agricultural and wildlife leaders in 1957, 1987, and 2017

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2018
A national survey of wildlife agency directors was conducted during 1957 to determine their perceptions of wildlife damage to agriculture. This study was repeated in 1987, expanding the sample to include chief executive officers of state Farm Bureaus and

Anisotropic Biot Coefficient of Fractured Rocks Drives Failure Conditions in Pressurized Reservoirs

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract We present a theoretical framework to quantify the equivalent Biot coefficient tensor of fractured rock masses based on the properties of both the intact porous matrix and the fracture network. Our results show that the presence of dominant fracture sets produces an anisotropic equivalent Biot tensor, with larger values in the direction ...

Formation of Shallow Cumulus Patterns Using a Simple Warm Cloud Precipitation Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract A simple model based on predator‐prey‐like dynamics using a system of four nonlinear ordinary differential equations is used to simulate the life cycle of shallow cumulus. By coupling this model across a two‐dimensional array and varying the cloud environment, we can simulate three common patterns of self‐aggregation seen in the maritime ...

Phenology largely explains taller grass at successful nests in greater sage‐grouse

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2018
Much interest lies in the identification of manageable habitat variables that affect key vital rates for species of concern. For ground‐nesting birds, vegetation surrounding the nest may play an important role in mediating nest success by providing ...

The influence of ex‐tropical cyclones on marine terrace retreat

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
Ex‐tropical cyclones can damage the integrity of marine terrace structures and contribute to erosion, but they are sometimes too infrequent to explain the longer term erosion rates of coastlines. Abstract High magnitude events, like Ex‐Tropical Cyclones, are likely to change in their trajectory, magnitude, and frequency under future climate change ...
