Can we consider the stocks of alfonsinos Beryx splendens and Beryx decadactylus from the Azores a discrete fishery management unit? [PDF]
This paper summarises the detailed information on catch, fork length, weight, sex and maturity of alfonsinos Beryx splendens and Beryx decadactylus collected from targeted surveys in Azores waters, complemented by fishery data, over the past c. 20 years.

Extensive gene flow within sibling species in the deep-sea fish Beryx splendens. [PDF]
Molecular markers allow insights into the population biology and ecology of deep-sea organisms, which are usually hardly accessible to direct observation and poorly known. Such a study was undertaken here for the deep-sea fish Beryx splendens, a species of growing interest to fisheries. B. splendens populations were sampled on seamounts and continental

A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, aerobic and rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated RA3-3-1T, was isolated from splendid alfonsino (Beryxsplendens) collected from the North Pacific Ocean. Strain RA3-3-1T grew optimally at 25 °C, at pH 7.0-8.0 and in the presence of 1.0-3.0 % (w/v) NaCl.

Life history baseline of unexploited populations: The case of Beryx splendens from the Sierra Leone Rise [PDF]
This study examines for the first time the biology of alfonsino (Beryx splendens) from three small seamounts of the Sierra Leone Rise (SLR), an unexploited and fragile ecosystem in the Atlantic, using data from an experimental survey carried out in 2001 ...

Feeding habits of splendid alfonsino Beryx splendens in the vicinity of Kuroshio, the south of Japan
Abstract Gut contents and nitrogen isotope ratio (δ15N) analyses were conducted on splendid alfonsino Beryx splendens collected in the vicinity of Kuroshio from May 2015 to November 2016 (n = 708) to identify their feeding habits in the Western North Pacific.

Age and growth of alfonsino Beryx splendens in the waters around the Izu Islands
SUMMARY: This paper estimates the age and growth of the alfonsino Beryx splendens in the waters around the Izu Islands off the Pacific side of Japan. The samples consist of 250 fish of the landings of the offshore longliners from December 1995 to November 1996 and 10 fish of the coastal longliners in February of 1995.

Assessment of Splendid alfonsino (Beryx splendens) in NAFO Subarea 6 [PDF]
Commercial aggregations of alfonsino (Beryx splendens) on the Corner Rising and in the area of North Azores were discovered for the first time on board the USSR exploratory vessels the mid-70s of last century.
