Resolving Artifacts in Voltage‐Clamp Experiments with Computational Modeling: An Application to Fast Sodium Current Recordings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Patch‐clamp experiments are fundamental to the measurement and understanding of ion currents that underlie physiological functions from neural activity to muscle contraction. Via a mathematical model of the experimental apparatus, this article highlights how artifact effects can be as large as some reported mutation and drug effects, and enables ...

On some geometric properties and Hardy class of q-Bessel functions

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2020
In this paper, we deal with some geometric properties including starlikeness and convexity of order α of Jackson’s second and third q-Bessel functions which are natural extensions of classical Bessel function Jν.

Secondary Electron Hyperspectral Imaging of Carbons: New Insights and Good Practice Guide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Secondary hyperspectral imaging of carbon surfaces is assessed with reference materials and in comparison to standard spectroscopies. Characterization of functional carbon materials from battery research reveals otherwise inaccessible information about the distribution of sp2 and amorphous carbon, as shown in graphite anode and carbon coated lithium ...

Training‐Free Regulation of Grasping by Intracortical Tactile Feedback Designed via S1‐M1 Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During object grasping in macaques, information flow between the primary sensory cortex (S1) and the primary motor cortex (M1) is modulated by tactile properties of the target. Intracortical micro‐stimulation in S1 reliably evokes M1 responses that resemble those naturally generated during grasping under specific tactile conditions.

Power quality enhancement in asymmetrical cascaded multilevel inverter using modified carrier level shifted pulse width modulation approach

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, EarlyView., 2022
New modified carrier‐based level shifted pulse width modulation approaches for single‐phase trinary dc source fed cascaded H‐bridge inverters are proposed in this article. In order to suppress the lower order harmonics, the carrier frequency is often tuned higher. However, switching and electromagnetic interference problems have a significant influence

NUMERICAL CALCULATION OF BESSEL FUNCTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics C, 2012
A new computational procedure is offered to provide simple, accurate and flexible methods for using modern computers to give numerical evaluations of the various Bessel functions. The trapezoidal rule, applied to suitable integral representations, may become the method of choice for evaluation of the many special functions of mathematical physics.

Detection of Metal Impurity Particles in Lead‐Acid Battery Electrolyte Based on Lens‐Free Digital Holography Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a lens‐free digital holography (LDH) method for detecting metal impurities in lead‐acid battery electrolytes. Using a green LED and CMOS camera, the technique captures holograms and analyzes reconstruction distances and gray‐scale differences.

Spin‐Orbit Angular Momentum Conversion in Coupled Nonparaxial Bessel Acoustic Vortices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study gives a formulaic description of the spin‐orbit angular momentum (AM) conversion in coupled fields of two nonparaxial Bessel acoustic vortices. Experimental results of wave field measurements provide compelling evidence for spin‐orbit AM conversion via passive artificial structures.

Frobenius Determinants and Bessel Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We study the geometry and partial differential equations arising from the consideration of Frobenius determinants, also called-group-determinants. This leads us to address some aspects of twistor theory as well as some extensions of Bessel functions.
