Dielectrophoresis Tutorial: Inspired by Hatfield's 1924 Patent and Boltzmann's Theory and Experiments of 1874

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The first patent to describe dielectrophoresis (DEP) as a means and process to separate particles from a mixture was granted by the US Patent Office to Henry Stafford Hatfield in 1924. The novel methods of sample preparation and designs of electrode geometry covered by the patent's disclosures and claims describe the basis for most present‐day

Efficient computation of Fourier–Bessel transforms for transverse-momentum dependent parton distributions and other functions

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We present a method for the numerical computation of Fourier–Bessel transforms on a finite or infinite interval. The function to be transformed needs to be evaluated on a grid of points that is independent of the argument of the Bessel function.

Numerical analysis for the moments of Bessel functions and Bessel-trigonometric functions

open access: yes, 2016
The moments of Bessel functions and Bessel-trigonometric functions play a basic role in many practical problems and numerical analysis. This paper presents a complete analysis for these moments based on the recursive relations of Bessel functions. To evaluate the moments of Bessel functions numerically, a fast and efficient scheme is also proposed to ...

Sums of products of Bessel functions and order derivatives of Bessel functions

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper, sums represented in (3) are studied. The expressions are derived in terms of Bessel functions of the first and second kinds and their integrals. Further, we point out the integrals can be written as a Meijer G function.

Microwave Assisted Fluidized Bed Spray Soaking and Gelatinization for Whole Grain Rice Fortification

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Spray soaking of micronutrient solution (0.106 mg/ml) with the pre‐optimized processing condition resulted in a gain in iron content (21.25 mg of iron/kg), non‐significantly impacting its quality. ABSTRACT Extruded fortified rice kernel often differs in its physicochemical, soaking, and cooking properties from regular rice and is not preferred due to ...

Extrapolation Boundary Conditions for 2‐D Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
This paper introduces novel inflow, outflow, and wall boundaries for the WCSPH method. Utilising innovative concepts from finite volume methods, fluid properties of sequential dynamic particles with varying distances to boundaries are extrapolated to ghost and wall particles using first‐order Taylor series expansion.

Fast Tissue Clearing and Volume Imaging Techniques for Anatomy

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
Tissue clearing and volume imaging techniques have revolutionized our ability to visualize large biological samples, but they face obstacles related to speed, tissue preservation, complexity, and the need for fluorescence labels that make them difficult to implement in anatomy and preclinical research.
