Non-intersecting squared Bessel paths and multiple orthogonal polynomials for modified Bessel weights

open access: yes, 2007
We study a model of $n$ non-intersecting squared Bessel processes in the confluent case: all paths start at time $t = 0$ at the same positive value $x = a$, remain positive, and are conditioned to end at time $t = T$ at $x = 0$.

On the stability of vacuum in the screened Vlasov–Poisson equation

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract We study the asymptotic behavior of small data solutions to the screened Vlasov–Poisson equation on Rd×Rd$\mathbb {R}^d\times \mathbb {R}^d$ near vacuum. We show that for dimensions d⩾2$d\geqslant 2$, under mild assumptions on localization (in terms of spatial moments) and regularity (in terms of at most three Sobolev derivatives) solutions ...

Beyond the Hodge theorem: Curl and asymmetric pseudodifferential projections

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract We develop a new approach to the study of spectral asymmetry. Working with the operator curl:=∗d$\operatorname{curl}:={*}\mathrm{d}$ on a connected oriented closed Riemannian 3‐manifold, we construct, by means of microlocal analysis, the asymmetry operator — a scalar pseudodifferential operator of order −3$-3$.

Linearization coefficients of Bessel polynomials

open access: yes, 2005
We prove positivity results about linearization and connection coefficients for Bessel polynomials. The proof is based on a recursion formula and explicit formulas for the coefficients in special cases. The result implies that the distribution of a convex combination of independent Student-t random variables with arbitrary odd degrees of freedom has a ...

Meteorological Tsunamis: From Local Hazard to Global Relevance

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 63, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Research on meteorological tsunamis or meteotsunamis—long ocean waves in the tsunami frequency band generated by propagating atmospheric disturbances which resonantly enhance ocean waves—has grown significantly in recent decades. This expansion is due to progress in (a) ocean and atmospheric measurements, including advanced instrumentation ...

An exploratory study on bivariate extended $ q $-Laguerre-based Appell polynomials with some applications

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
In this paper, we employed the $ q $-Bessel Tricomi functions of zero-order to introduce bivariate extended $ q $-Laguerre-based Appell polynomials. Then, the bivariate extended $ q $-Laguerre-based Appell polynomials were established in the sense of ...

A Variational Approach for Modeling the Inductive Response of Earth's Mantle to Time‐Varying External Geomagnetic Source

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract A mathematical and numerical framework is developed for modeling Earth's magnetic field and optimizing the trajectory of the whole system using geomagnetic observations. The conventional approach is adopted to model Earth's magnetic field in the source‐free region via the Gauss coefficient, for which the fast dynamical component for the mantle‐

AeroGP: Machine Learning How Aerosols Impact Regional Climate

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Aerosol particles from both natural and anthropogenic sources play a critical role in the Earth's climate by interacting with solar radiation and clouds. Anthropogenic aerosol and precursor emissions have historically exerted a global cooling effect, which has partially offset the warming from concurrent greenhouse gas emissions.

Large degree asymptotics of generalized Bessel polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2011
Asymptotic expansions are given for large values of $n$ of the generalized Bessel polynomials $Y_n^μ(z)$. The analysis is based on integrals that follow from the generating functions of the polynomials. A new simple expansion is given that is valid outside a compact neighborhood of the origin in the $z-$plane.

Xtricorder: a likelihood‐enhanced self‐rotation function and application to a machine learning‐enhanced Matthews prediction of asymmetric unit copy number

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 81, Issue 12, Page 678-692, December 2025.
Xtricorder is a tool for analysing crystallographic data, featuring a likelihood‐enhanced self‐rotation function and a novel `composite‐section diagram' thereof, which aids interpretation and enables a machine learning‐enhanced prediction of asymmetric unit content.Analysis of crystallographic diffraction data after collection and integration but ...
