A Mixture Transition Distribution Modeling for Higher‐Order Circular Markov Processes

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study considers the stationary higher‐order Markov process for circular data by employing the mixture transition distribution modeling. The underlying circular transition distribution is based on Wehrly and Johnson's bivariate joint circular models.

Anxious Projections: Mass Hysteria and the Problem of Interpretation

open access: yesMedical Anthropology Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Stories of “mass hysteria” among teenage girls have often graced the headlines of Nepal's local and national newspapers, creating a public spectacle of a strange and mysterious form of affliction. Treatments include both shamanic rituals and psychosocial interventions, a new therapeutic modality that has gained prominence over the past two ...

Electromagnetic fields modulate neuronal membrane ionic currents through altered cellular calcium homeostasis

open access: yesAnnals of the New York Academy of Sciences, EarlyView.
Electromagnetic fields (50 Hz, 1 mT) affect hippocampal CA1 neuron excitability by reducing membrane currents. These effects, blocked by agents targeting calcium signaling pathways, suggest EMFs influence neuronal function via disruption of Ca2⁺ homeostasis and voltage‐gated channel regulation. Abstract The biological effects of electromagnetic fields (

Statistical disaggregation—A Monte Carlo approach for imputation under constraints

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Equality‐constrained models naturally arise in problems in which the measurements are taken at different levels of resolution. The challenge in this setting is that the models usually induce a joint distribution which is intractable. Resorting to instead sampling from the joint distribution by means of a Monte Carlo approach is also ...
