Inverse Design for Robust Inference in Integrated Computational Spectrometry

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 7, 13 April 2026.
This work demonstrates that integrated computational spectrometers can be inverse‐designed to substantially improve noise tolerance without relying on training data or specific inference algorithms, offering an alternative to conventional end‐to‐end co‐design strategies.

Using Chebyshev Polynomials to Approximate Partial Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper suggests a simple method based on a Chebyshev approximation at Chebyshev nodes to approximate partial differential equations. It consists in determining the value function by using a set of nodes and basis functions.

Chebyshev semi-iteration in Preconditioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
It is widely believed that Krylov subspace iterative methods are better than Chebyshev semi-iterative methods. When the solution of a linear system with a symmetric and positive definite coefficient matrix is required then the Conjugate Gradient method ...

What If Each Voxel Were Measured With a Different Diffusion Protocol?

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2277-2290, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Expansion of diffusion MRI (dMRI) both into the realm of strong gradients and into accessible imaging with portable low‐field devices brings about the challenge of gradient nonlinearities. Spatial variations of the diffusion gradients make diffusion weightings and directions non‐uniform across the field of view, and deform perfect ...

Composite Single‐Reference and Explicitly Correlated Multireference Calculations on the Mechanism of Pyrrole Pyrolysis

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 4, April 2026.
New calculations have been applied to the pyrolysis of pyrrole under shock‐tube conditions and to the radical‐radical reaction between allyl and •CN at low temperature and pressure, using the same mechanistic scheme for both. ABSTRACT The pyrolysis of pyrrole has previously been studied in shock‐tube experiments and in jet‐stirred reactors. The results

Machine Learning Based Prediction of Tropical Cyclone Rapid Intensification in the Western North Pacific: Importance of Data Augmentation and Loss Function

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract In this study, we developed a TabNet‐based machine learning model to predict tropical cyclone (TC) rapid intensification (RI) in the Western North Pacific. The most significant challenge in predicting RI is the severe class imbalance between rapid and non‐rapid intensification cases, typically 4.2:1 ratio based on 1977–2021 records.

Polynomial mechanics and optimal control

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a new algorithm for trajectory optimization of mechanical systems. Our method combines pseudo-spectral methods for function approximation with variational discretization schemes that exactly preserve conserved mechanical quantities such as ...

Breaking Barriers in High‐Order Spectral Methods: The Intrinsic Matrix Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 5, 15 March 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a unified framework in Hilbert spaces for applying high‐order differential operators in bounded domains using Chebyshev, Legendre, and Fourier spectral methods. By exploiting the banded structure of differentiation matrices and embedding boundary conditions directly into the operator through a scaling law relating ...

Chebyshev and Conjugate Gradient Filters for Graph Image Denoising

open access: yes, 2015
In 3D image/video acquisition, different views are often captured with varying noise levels across the views. In this paper, we propose a graph-based image enhancement technique that uses a higher quality view to enhance a degraded view.
