Simple Sequencing Problems with Interdependent Costs [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we analyze sequencing situations under incomplete information where agents have interdependent costs. We first argue why Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (or VCG) mechanism fails to implement a simple sequencing problem in dominant strategies.

Forbidden configurations and dominating bicliques in undirected 2-quasi best match graphs

open access: yes
2-quasi best match graphs (2-qBMGs) are directed graphs that capture a notion of close relatedness in phylogenetics. Here, we investigate the undirected underlying graph of a 2-qBMG (un-2qBMG) and show that they contain neither a path $P_l$ nor a cycle $C_l$ of length $l\geq 6$ as an induced subgraph.

Common Best Proximity Point Theorems for Generalized Dominating with Graphs and Applications in Differential Equations

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we initiate a concept of graph-proximal functions. Furthermore, we give a notion of being generalized Geraghty dominating for a pair of mappings. This permits us to establish the existence of and unique results for a common best proximity point of complete metric space.

Mitigation of Cracks in High‐Performance Nickel‐Based Superalloys in Powder Bed Fusion Laser Beam of Metals Using a Metal Matrix Composite Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...

A Simulative Evaluation of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures in the Context of Elastocaloric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Fundamental period equations for plan irregular moment-resisting frame buildings

open access: yesAdvances in Civil and Architectural Engineering
The fundamental natural period of oscillation is a critical parameter in evaluating the design base shear of buildings. Worldwide seismic design codes typically employ height-based empirical formulas to estimate this period for various building ...

Laboratory‐Scale Procedure for Evaluating the Flux Efficiency on Melt Cleanliness and Tensile Properties of Recycled Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...

Reliable Tissue Grasping in Robotic Minimally Invasive Surgery Enabled by Optical‐Based Slip Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An optical‐based slip sensing method using a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor image sensor with a built‐in infrared light emitting diode enables real‐time detection of tissue slippage—including displacement, direction, and speed—in robotic minimally invasive surgery.

An approximation algorithm for K-best enumeration of minimal connected edge dominating sets with cardinality constraints

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science
\emph{$K$-best enumeration}, which asks to output $k$-best solutions without duplication, is a helpful tool in data analysis for many fields. In such fields, graphs typically represent data. Thus subgraph enumeration has been paid much attention to such fields.
