Improved robust Bayes estimators of the error variance in linear models
We consider the problem of estimating the error variance in a general linear model when the error distribution is assumed to be spherically symmetric, but not necessary Gaussian.

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

This study deals with basic prediction/estimation issues involving a constrained multivariate linear model (CMLM) and some related reduced models. By reparameterizing these models, the authors create unconstrained multivariate linear models (UMLMs ...

A Unified Filter for Simultaneous Input and State Estimation of Linear Discrete-time Stochastic Systems [PDF]
In this paper, we present a unified optimal and exponentially stable filter for linear discrete-time stochastic systems that simultaneously estimates the states and unknown inputs in an unbiased minimum-variance sense, without making any assumptions on ...

Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Optimal Galaxy Distance Estimators
The statistical properties of galaxy distance estimators are studied and a rigorous framework is developed for identifying and removing the effects of Malmquist bias due to obsevational selection.

What you can do with Coordinated Samples [PDF]
Sample coordination, where similar instances have similar samples, was proposed by statisticians four decades ago as a way to maximize overlap in repeated surveys. Coordinated sampling had been since used for summarizing massive data sets.

Light‐Induced Entropy for Secure Vision
This work realized a ternary true random number generator by exploiting stochastic traps emerging within multiple junction interfaces, and quantitatively validated the generation of high‐quality random numbers. Furthermore, it successfully demonstrated diverse applications, including AI‐resilient image security, thereby providing a valuable guide for ...
