Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Putting out the Cerro Grande fire: a case study in government crisis communication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In 2000, the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) initiated a prescribed burn, which went awry, prompting New Mexico's largest wildfire to date. This paper examines the NPS’s crisis response in an effort to determine its media response, how that response ...

Nash equilibria sets in mixed extended 2x3 games [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Science Journal of Moldova, 2005
We describe the Nash equilibria set as an intersection of best response graphs. The problem of Nash equilibria set construction for \hbox{two-person} mixed extended 2x3 games is studied.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

A general model of best response adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes
We develop a general model of best response adaptation in large populations for symmetric and asymmetric conflicts with role-switching. For special cases including the classical best response dynamics and the symmetrized best response dynamics we show ...

Two neuronal groups for NaCl with differential taste response properties and topographical distributions in the rat parabrachial nucleus

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2020
It is crucial for animals to discriminate between palatable (safe) and aversive (toxic) tastants. The mechanisms underlying neuronal discrimination of taste stimuli remain unclear.

Imperfect best-response mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Best-response mechanisms (Nisan, Schapira, Valiant, Zohar, 2011) provide a unifying framework for studying various distributed protocols in which the participants are instructed to repeatedly best respond to each others' strategies. Two fundamental features of these mechanisms are convergence and incentive compatibility.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′
