Reduction of order in the oscillation theory of half-linear differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2020
Oscillation of solutions of even order half-linear differential equations of the form \begin{equation*}\label{eq_Jaros} (\alpha_n,\dots,\alpha_1)x + q(t) |x|^\beta \operatorname{sgn} x = 0, \qquad t \geq a > 0, \tag{*} \end{equation*} where $\alpha_i ...

Language–motor interference reflected in MEG beta oscillations

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2015
The involvement of the brain's motor system in action-related language processing can lead to overt interference with simultaneous action execution. The aim of the current study was to find evidence for this behavioural interference effect and to investigate its neurophysiological correlates using oscillatory MEG analysis. Subjects performed a semantic

Time‐Resolved Magnetization Switching Dynamics Driven by Orbital Torques

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Du et al. reveal nanosecond magnetization switching driven by orbital currents using time‐resolved Hall detection. The measurements separate domain nucleation from domain wall propagation and show that Joule heating strongly assists switching by lowering energy barriers.

Automatic detection of ALS from single-trial MEG signals during speech tasks: a pilot study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an idiopathic, fatal, and fast-progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of motor neurons. ALS patients often experience an initial misdiagnosis or a diagnostic delay due to the current

Review of Thermally Activated Twisted Coiled Polymer Actuators: A Materials Science Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally activated twisted and coiled polymer actuators (TCPAs) combine lightweight design, large deformation, and scalable fabrication for soft robotic and wearable applications. This review connects polymer structure, processing history, helix geometry, and thermomechanical characterization to actuator performance, highlighting current challenges in

Beta oscillations relate to the N400m during language comprehension [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, 2012
AbstractThe relationship between the evoked responses (ERPs/ERFs) and the event‐related changes in EEG/MEG power that can be observed during sentence‐level language comprehension is as yet unclear. This study addresses a possible relationship between MEG power changes and the N400m component of the event‐related field. Whole‐head MEG was recorded while

Reduced Modulation of Theta and Beta Oscillations Mediates Empathy Impairment in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesBrain and Behavior
Background Empathy is an inaccessible part of advanced social cognitive functions in humans. Impairment of empathy greatly affects the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) but the underlying neurophysiologic mechanisms have not been ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward
