Effects of betaine supplementation on cardiovascular markers: A systematic review and Meta-analysis
Critical reviews in food science and nutrition, 2021Controversy regarding the effects of betaine supplementation on cardiovascular markers has persisted for decades. This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the effects of betaine supplementation on cardiovascular disease (CVD) markers.

Betaine squarate, a new ferroelastic betaine compound
Solid State Communications, 1996Abstract A new betaine compound, (CH 3 ) 3 NCH 2 COO·C 4 O 4 H 2 , has been synthesized. The substance crystallizes at ambient temperature with space group Pc 2 1 b . Accordingly, it is pyro- and piezoelectric. Elastic, optic, and dielectric investigations have shown that betaine squarate under-goes a continuous ferroelastic transition at T c ≈

Regulation of Hepatic Betaine-Homocysteine Methyltransferase by Dietary Betaine
The Journal of Nutrition, 1983The level of betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase increases in the livers of rats fed diets supplemented with betaine or choline. The increase occurs within 3 days following the change in diet. When we administered betaine by intraperitoneal injection to rats fed choline-free diets, we observed a similar increase within 24 hours.

Cocamidopropyl betaine allergy
American Journal of Contact Dermatitis, 2001Cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) is a surfactant, and reports of allergic contact dermatitis to this chemical have been reported in the literature. Although most commonly found in rinse-off products, the chemical nonetheless has been shown to induce allergy.

Betaine increases mitochondrial content and improves hepatic lipid metabolism.
Food & Function, 2019The liver plays a critical role in lipid metabolism. Hepatic dysfunction is not only the direct cause of fatty liver disease, but the main risk factor for obesity, diabetes, and other metabolic diseases. So far, therapeutic strategies against fatty liver

AbstractThe quaternary salts formed by reaction of tolyl sultone (2, 1, 3H‐benzoxathiole‐1, 1‐dioxide) with 2‐(1,3‐dioxolan‐2‐yl)‐ or 2‐(2‐methyl[1, 3]dioxolan‐2‐yl)pyridine may be cyclized in acid to afford the betaines derived from 7‐sulfo‐ and 7‐sulfo‐11‐methylacridizinium hydroxides.

Osmoregulatory function of betaine in alleviating heat stress in poultry
Journal of animal physiology and animal nutrition, 2018This review focuses on the osmoregulatory function of betaine and its effect in terms of alleviating heat stress in poultry. Poultry appear to be particularly sensitive to temperature-associated environmental challenges, especially heat stress.
