The Toarcian Aalenian boundary in the Betic Cordillera (Southern Spain)
Geobios, 1994Abstract The Toarcian-Aalenian boundary has been studied accurately for the first time, in three areas of the Subbetic domain (Southern Spain). The successive ammonite assemblages have permitted to distinguish the uppermost Toarcian, Aalensis Zone (Mactra, Aalensis and Buckmani Subzones), and Lower Aalenian, Opalinum Zone, (Opalinum and Comptum ...

Lithospheric flexure and the tectonic evolution of the Betic Cordilleras (SE Spain)
Tectonophysics, 1992Abstract We present flexural and gravity models along four profiles across the Betic Cordilleras (SE Spain). The flexural response of the Iberian lithosphere to the loading exerted by the thrust sheets of the internal zone of the orogen is modelled for a broken plate with an elastic rheology of the lithosphere.

Ammonite biostratigraphy of the uppermost Hauterivian in the Betic Cordillera (SE Spain)
Geobios, 2003Abstract A detailed analysis of the stratigraphic distribution of ammonites from fourteen sections in the External Zones of the Betic Cordillera has enabled us to identify accurately the sequence of bioevents that take place throughout the uppermost Hauterivian and to propose a more precise biostratigraphic scheme for this interval.

Radiolarite Sequences of the Subbetic, Betic Cordillera, Southern Spain
1989The radiolarite sequence of the middle Subbetic (Betic cordillera, southern Spain) is composed of three main lithologies: radiolarite, siliceous mudstone and marl, and pelagic limestone with radio larians. Virtually all transitional lithologies among the three listed exist.

Wrenching in the external zone of the Betic Cordilleras, southern Spain
Tectonophysics, 1984Abstract Regional structural trends in the Caravaca-Huescar area, forming the central part of the External Zone in the Betic Cordilleras, indicate that deformation of the area results from right lateral wrenching, subparallel to the paleogeographic zonation.

Ammonium vermiculite in schists from the Betic Cordillera (Spain)
American Mineralogist, 2011NH 4 -bearing phases from pre-Permian schists of the Internal Zones of the Betic Cordillera (Spain) have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry, infrared spectroscopy, and transmission-analytical electron microscopy.

Discussion of origins of hinterland basins to the Rif-Betic Cordillera and Carpathians
Tectonophysics, 1993Abstract The hinterland basins of the Rif-Betic Cordillera (Western Alboran Sea) and the Carpathians (Pannonian Basin) are in part composed of a thick (in excess of 3–4 km) thermal sag basin sequence. The underlying crust has been thinned to 25 km in parts of the Pannonian Basin and to 15 km in parts of the Alboran Sea.
