Summary The development of root bark structure of birch ( Betula pendula R oth ) was analysed. With increasing distance from the stem less sclereids are formed, i. e. the formation of sclereids increases with root bark age. In root bark with less sclereids the dilatation of phloem rays is more distinct.

Za listove Betule pendule karakteristične sastavnice su flavonoidni spojevi- metodom tankoslojne kromatografije dokazana je prisutnost rutina, hiperozida i kvercitrina. Sadržaj ukupnih flavonoida je određen spektrofotometrijski te iznosi 0.89% izraženo na kvercetin, odnosno 1.44% izraženo na hiperozid.
