Secondary metabolites of downy birch buds (Betula pubescens Erch.)
Zeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2021Abstract The subject of this study is the composition of low-molecular-weight metabolites in downy birch (Betula pubescens) buds and their participation in protection from various kinds of stress. Using the GC-MS, 640 compounds were detected, of which 314 were identified in downy birch buds for the first time.

Triterpene caffeates from bark of Betula pubescens
Phytochemistry, 1994Abstract Three new caffeic acid esters [3β,23-dihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic acid 3β-caffeate, 3β,23-dihydroxy-olean-12-en-28-oic acid 23-caffeate and 3β,23-dihydroxy-lup-20(29)-en-28-oic acid 3β-caffeate] of triterpene alcohols and another four known compounds of this type were isolated from the outer bark of Betula pubescens .

Larger fungi associated with Betula pubescens in Greenland
Meddelelser om Grønland. Bioscience, 1990A list of 102 larger fungi mainly associated with Betula pubescens in Greenland is given. Species from most of the major taxonomic groups of larger fungi are represented. The species have been classified into a number of broad mycogeographical types. It is concluded that the fungi associated with B.

Potassium nutrition and free polyamines of Betula pendula Roth and Betula pubescens Ehrh.
Plant and Soil, 2002Potassium and free polyamine concentrations in the leaves of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth) and downy birch (Betula pubescens Ehrh) were followed during three successive growing seasons 1996, 1997 and 1998 in order to define K deficiency levels.

Defoliation increases carbon limitation in ectomycorrhizal symbiosis of Betula pubescens
Oecologia, 2004Boreal forest trees are highly dependent on root-colonizing mycorrhizal fungi. Since the maintenance of mycorrhizal symbiosis implies a significant carbon cost for the host plant, the loss of photosynthetic leaf area due to herbivory is expected to reduce the host investment in mycorrhizae.

Sun and shade leaves inBetula pubescensandBetula pendula
Transactions of the Botanical Society of Edinburgh, 1980Summary Measurements of the net photosynthesis and dark respiration rates of excised twigs from Betula pubescens Ehrh. subsp. odorata (Bechst.) Warburg and B. pendula Roth, at different light intensities were made using infra-red gas analysis. B. pubescens appears to possess leaves which on the basis of physiological responses can be described as sun ...

Abstract A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) procedure based on a water–methanol gradient with tetrahydrofuran for simultaneous analysis of flavonoids and other phenolics of differing polarities in birch leaves was developed. Mobile phases with and without tetrahydrofuran or orthophosphoric acid provided additional information for ...
