Spiral Bevel Gears and Hypoid Gears
2020In this chapter, the geometry of the main types of spiral bevel gears is first defined and considerations about the spiral angle are made. The corresponding cutting processes are then briefly described, and the generation of active flank surfaces of the teeth is defined.

In this chapter, the fundamentals of straight bevel geometry are given and the related main quantities are defined. Geometry of spherical involute and octoid toothing is introduced and implications on the cutting processes of these gears are analyzed.

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1943
Abstract This paper illustrates and describes some important applications of bevel gears in aircraft, and explains some of their advantageous features. The selection of bevel gears instead of parallel-shaft gears is dictated in many instances by the locations and arrangements of the driven equipment and the source of power.

The kinematics of robotic bevel-gear trains
Proceedings. 1987 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2005A systematic approach has been developed for the kinematic analysis of multi-degree-of-freedom robotic bevel-gear trains. The approach is based on the idea that the motion of the end-effector can be described by an equivalent open-loop chain and that the relative rotations between every two adjacent links in the equivalent open-loop chain can be ...
