Geometric Modeling and Fatigue Strength Simulation of Bevel Gears with Variable Radius Tooth Root
Aiming at the problem that most of the teeth root of straight bevel gears adopt fixed radius fillet transition with 0.3 times of modulus, which tends to to cause large bending stress on the tooth root and reduce the service life of bevel gears, a design ...

Effect of lubricant jet location on spiral bevel gear operating temperatures [PDF]
An experimental study was conducted to determine the effect of lubricant jet location on spiral bevel gear bulk temperatures. Transient surface temperatures were also measured.

The Lubrication of Bevel Gears
In bevel gears, the behaviours of the oil in the gear box differ from those in spur gears, presenting conditions worse than the latter. In this paper, the mechanisms of the oil being supplied to the tooth surface and of the oil film formation between the teeth surfaces of pinion and gear are investigated.

Mathematical models for the synthesis and optimization of spiral bevel gear tooth surfaces [PDF]
The geometry of spiral bevel gears and to their rational design are studied. The nonconjugate tooth surfaces of spiral bevel gears are, in theory, replaced (or approximated) by conjugated tooth surfaces.

Lubrication characteristics of gear after shot peening base on 25-pellet model
High-speed heavy-load spiral bevel gears put forward high requirement for flexural strength; shot peening is a technique that greatly improves the bending fatigue strength of gears.

New generation methods for spur, helical, and spiral-bevel gears [PDF]
New methods for generating spur, helical, and spiral-bevel gears are proposed. These methods provide the gears with conjugate gear tooth surfaces, localized bearing contact, and reduced sensitivity to gear misalignment.

Ideal spiral bevel gears: A new approach to surface geometry [PDF]
The fundamental geometrical characteristics of spiral bevel gear tooth surfaces are discussed. The parametric representation of an ideal spiral bevel tooth is developed based on the elements of involute geometry, differential geometry, and fundamental ...
