Bond Performance of Sand-Coated BFRP Bars to Concrete
This paper presents an experimental study on the bond behaviour of sand-coated basalt fibre reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars and conventional steel bars of 10mm- diameter. The bond strength of these bars were determined according to ASTM D7913/D7913M-14 standards. The pullout specimens consisted of BFRP bars embedded in concrete cubes (200mm on each side)

Experimental and numerical investigation on the flexural response of GFRP‐reinforced SFRC beams
Abstract In order to address the challenges related to the deformability and ductility of concrete beams reinforced with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars, an alternative solution involving steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) has been proposed. In the present study, a total of seven beams—including one steel‐reinforced reference beam and six glass

Bond Behavior of BFRP and Steel Reinforcement in Self-Compacting Concrete [PDF]
This study investigates the local bond behavior of basalt fiber-reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars compared with steel reinforcement in self-compacting concrete (SCC), with a focus on the influence of concrete compressive strength, bar diameter, and rib ...

Side‐by‐side long‐term performance assessment of GFRP‐ and steel‐reinforced concrete bridge decks
Abstract The corrosion‐induced deterioration of steel‐reinforced bridge decks is a service life concern, especially in cold regions, where the use of deicing chemicals is common. To address this issue, glass fiber‐reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcement has received growing attention, owing to the GFRP's resistance to conventional corrosion.

Abstract The implementation of traditional steel reinforcement in 3D concrete printed structures is a major challenge. Although 3D‐printed structures may be used as formwork, the knowledge about their structural contribution is limited. This research aims to experimentally evaluate the structural performance of reinforced concrete prisms with 3D ...

Abstract In practice, reinforced concrete (RC) wall‐like columns often have openings to facilitate building services, which creates stress concentrations around the opening, resulting in the weakening of their load‐carrying capacity. This study proposes innovative strengthening methods using near‐surface mounted (NSM) incorporating steel materials to ...

A refined prediction method for the long-term performance of BFRP bars serviced in field environments [PDF]
A new kind of advanced composite reinforcement, basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars, has not yet been widely adopted by design codes/guidelines worldwide, likely due to the lack of reliable long-term performance data.

Experimental Studies on Bond Performance of BFRP Bars Reinforced Coral Aggregate Concrete [PDF]
Abstract Basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) rebars reinforced coral aggregate concrete is a new type of concrete used in ocean engineering. In order to investigate the bond performance between BFRP rebars and coral concrete, 30 pull-out tests were carried out in 10 groups with different diameters of BFRP rebars, bonding lengths and ...
