Beating BGP is Harder than we Thought

ACM Workshop on Hot Topics in Networks, 2019
Online services all seek to provide their customers with the best Quality of Experience (QoE) possible. Milliseconds of delay can cause users to abandon a cat video or move onto a different shopping site, which translates into lost revenue.

BGP Communities

open access: yesACM/SIGCOMM Internet Measurement Conference, 2018
BGP communities are a mechanism widely used by operators to manage policy, mitigate attacks, and engineer traffic; e.g., to drop unwanted traffic, filter announcements, adjust local preference, and prepend paths to influence peer selection. Unfortunately,

Benchmarking BGP Routers

2007 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Workload Characterization, 2007
Determining which routes to use when forwarding traffic is one of the major processing tasks in the control plane of computer networks. We present a novel benchmark that evaluates the performance of the most commonly used Internet-wide routing protocol, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).

Multi-Scale LSTM Model for BGP Anomaly Classification

IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, 2018
As a policy-based routing protocol, the primary purpose of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is to exchange routing reachability information to provide sufficient end-to-end Quality-of-Service (QoS).

Understanding BGP misconfiguration

Proceedings of the 2002 conference on Applications, technologies, architectures, and protocols for computer communications - SIGCOMM '02, 2002
It is well-known that simple, accidental BGP configuration errors can disrupt Internet connectivity. Yet little is known about the frequency of misconfiguration or its causes, except for the few spectacular incidents of widespread outages. In this paper, we present the first quantitative study of BGP misconfiguration.

BGP confederation provisioning

2007
This paper proposes an optimization method for the design of large scale confederation based BGP networks. We propose a graph based model and an associated metric to evaluate the reliability of large scale autonomous systems. We propose and validate an effective methodology to find the optimal design for a given physical topology.
