Rich Dad Poor Dad? CEO Private School Background and Firm Risk
ABSTRACT We examine the effect of CEO childhood socioeconomic status (SES) on firm risk. Using hand‐collected data on US CEOs' private high‐school attendance as proxy for high‐SES, we find that firms led by high‐SES CEOs exhibit 5.35% lower firm risk. Uninformative news, limited attention and institutional investors
Abstract Using the universe of transaction‐level data in the U.S. corporate bond market around uninformative downgrades, we find an abnormal increase in trading volume, abnormal bond returns, and a subsequent reversal. On the contrary, we do not find a reversal for abnormal bond returns associated with informative rating actions.
