Topological defects in a deformed gauge theory

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
In this paper, we will analyse the topological defects in a deformation of a non-abelian gauge theory using the Polyakov variables. The gauge theory will be deformed by the existence of a minimum measurable length scale in the background spacetime.

Bridging home, school and community to address educational inequality: Supporting educational trajectories through community bridge work

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the role of community stakeholders in supporting the educational trajectories of students experiencing socio‐economic disadvantage in the Irish context. Building on international and national policy debates, the study examines how community‐based organisations, statutory services and outreach initiatives work alongside ...

DFT in supermanifold formulation and group manifold as background geometry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We develop the formulation of DFT on pre-QP-manifold. The consistency conditions like section condition and closure constraint are unified by a weak master equation. The Bianchi identities are also characterized by the pre-Bianchi identity.

Antimicrobial Resistance and Virulence Factors Assessment in Escherichia coli Isolated from Swine in Italy from 2017 to 2021

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
Prudent antibiotic use in pigs is critical to ensuring animal health and preventing the development of critical resistance. We evaluated the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) pattern in commensal and enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) isolates obtained

Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

The Strategic Role of Waste Inventories in Industrial Symbiosis: A Simulation‐Based Perspective on Performance and Resilience of Industrial Symbiosis Networks

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ensuring the resilience of industrial symbiosis networks (ISNs) has emerged as a key concern in the literature. However, existing studies focus on network‐level strategies, neglecting the potential benefits derived from strengthening the links between symbiotic partners.

Microbiological and Chemical Analysis of Food Collected Under Official Control in the Emilia-Romagna Region of Northern Italy, 2014–2019

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 2023
This study analyzed data from 6 years (2014–2019) of official controls in the Emilia-Romagna region (northern Italy) to investigate the frequencies of human pathogens and chemical hazards in foods during production and distribution.

Hidden Markov graphical models with state‐dependent generalized hyperbolic distributions

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract In this article, we develop a novel hidden Markov graphical model to investigate time‐varying interconnectedness between different financial markets. To identify conditional correlation structures under varying market conditions and accommodate shape features embedded in financial time series, we rely upon the generalized hyperbolic family of ...

Trichinella surveillance program in wild birds, Emilia-Romagna (northern Italy), 2006–2021. First report of Trichinella pseudospiralis in western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus) in Italy

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife, 2022
The nematode Trichinella pseudospiralis is a cosmopolitan parasite capable of infecting both birds and mammals including humans. T. pseudospiralis has a limited zoonotic importance in comparison to that of the other Trichinella species.
