Continuous and Large‐Scale: ELEANOR, the Soft Architected Arm Inspired by the Elephant Trunk

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A large‐scale, architected continuum robot inspired by the macroscopic properties of the African elephant trunk achieves adaptive elephant‐like movements and whole‐body grasping. The results demonstrate that designing from the natural system’s macroscopic properties, rather than prescribing behaviors, provides a powerful strategy for developing ...

Comparing equivalent gravities: common features and differences

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2022
We discuss equivalent representations of gravity in the framework of metric-affine geometries pointing out basic concepts from where these theories stem out.

Future asymptotic expansions of Bianchi VIII vacuum metrics [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2003
Bianchi VIII vacuum solutions to Einstein's equations are causally geodesically complete to the future, given an appropriate time orientation, and the objective of this article is to analyze the asymptotic behaviour of solutions in this time direction. For the Bianchi class A spacetimes, there is a formulation of the field equations that was presented ...

Mitigating HLA Disparity in AML Transplantation: Comparable Outcomes After Haploidentical and 9/10 Mismatched Unrelated Donor Transplantation With Treosulfan and PTCy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo‐HSCT) is a potentially curative strategy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but the impact of HLA disparity in the era of posttransplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) and reduced‐toxicity conditioning remains unclear. We performed an EBMT registry study including 275 adult AML patients in first

Ricci Flow of Biaxial Bianchi IX Metrics

open access: yes, 2007
We use the Ricci flow with surgery to study four-dimensional SU(2) x U(1)-symmetric metrics on a manifold with fixed boundary given by a squashed 3-sphere. Depending on the initial metric we show that the flow converges to either the Taub-Bolt or the Taub-NUT metric, the latter case potentially requiring surgery at some point in the evolution.

and Models: A Self-Similar Approach

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2013
We study the models and their particular case, the so-called -models under the self-similarity hypothesis. In particular, we calculate the exact form that each quantity may take in order that field equations (FEs) admit self-similar solutions.

Cosmological Particle Production in Quantum Gravity

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
Quantum theory of a test field on a quantum cosmological spacetime may be viewed as a theory of the test field on an emergent classical background.

Bianchi IX self-dual Einstein metrics and singular G 2 manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2003
We construct explicit cohomogeneity two metrics of G_2 holonomy, which are foliated by twistor spaces. The twistor spaces are S^2 bundles over four-dimensional Bianchi IX Einstein metrics with self-dual (or anti-self-dual) Weyl tensor. Generically the 4-metric is of triaxial Bianchi IX type, with SU(2) isometry.

Cosmology of Bianchi type-I metric using renormalization group approach for quantum gravity [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2020
Abstract We study the anisotropic Bianchi type-I cosmological model at late times, taking into account quantum gravitational corrections in the formalism of the exact renormalization group flow of the effective average action for gravity.
