Abstract Bermúdez argues that a framing effect is rational, which will be true if one accepts that the biased editing phase is rational. This type of rationality was called procedural by Simon. Despite being procedurally rational in the evaluation phase framing effect stems from biased way we set a reference point against which outcomes are compared.

Novel concept for three-dimensional polymer waveguides for optical on-chip interconnects [PDF]
We present a simulation study and first experimental implementations for a novel polymer three-dimensional waveguide design. The structures described here allow for new concepts of on-chip communication. By using direct laser writing, free-formed polymer

Novel trends in optical non-destructive testing methods [PDF]
Non-destructive testing (NDT) describes a wide range of methods for measuring and comparing physical quantities against a nominal condition. In this paper we describe and compare different optical NdT (ONDT)-methods with respect to their characteristics ...

Microsized subsurface modification of mono-crystalline silicon via non-linear absorption [PDF]
We introduce a novel method of optically inducing microsized subsurface structures using non-linear absorption of near infrared light in mono-crystalline silicon. We discuss the physical processes such as multi-photon absorption and self focussing in the

Surface characterization by structure function analysis [PDF]
The structure function is a tool for characterizing technical surfaces which exhibits a number of advantages over Fourier-based analysis methods. So it is optimally suited for analyzing the height distributions of surfaces measured by full-field non ...
