ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Penaksir untuk Rasio Populasi dengan Menggunakan Transformasi Variabel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Estimators discussed in this paper are three estimators for population ratio using variable transformation, i.e estimator of population ratio using dual variable, regression-type estimator of population ratio, and ratio-type estimator of population ratio,

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Developing the generalized Dawoud-Kibria estimator for the multinomial logistic model: Simulation study and application

open access: yesScientific African
The multinomial logistic regression model (MLRM) is commonly used to analyze relationships between a categorical response variable and multiple explanatory variables.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

A shoreline-estimation system using remote radar sensing and image-processing techniques

open access: yesDyna, 2017
This paper proposes a radar-based sensing system that estimates the coordinates for shorelines based on image-processing techniques. The proposed system provides shore estimations without appreciable loss of resolution and avoids the costs associated ...

Robust Inference Under Heteroskedasticity via the Hadamard Estimator

open access: yes, 2018
Drawing statistical inferences from large datasets in a model-robust way is an important problem in statistics and data science. In this paper, we propose methods that are robust to large and unequal noise in different observational units (i.e ...

Small biased circular density estimation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study higher order biased non-parametric estimators for circular densities. The idea is optimizing a local version of the log-likelihood function where the unknown log-density is replaced by a series expansion. It will be seen that the asymptotic bias will be reduced depending on the order of the expanding polynomial.
