Basic studies in biaxial tensile tests

GAMM Mitteilungen, 2018
Biaxial tensile experiments are an increasing test alternative of thin‐walled specimens to characterize the material behavior under mechanical agencies. This is mainly driven by digital image correlation systems to obtain information about the surface deformation.

Biaxial tensile testing of cruciform specimen under complex loading

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2005
Abstract In order to carry out biaxial tensile test, a PC-based control system and a digital PID controller was designed and developed on the basis of the three axes loading machine made and PID control principle. And some key techniques in biaxial tensile test have been solved, such as the displacement synchronous control of the same axial jaws, the

A review of planar biaxial tensile test systems for sheet metal

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2008
Abstract The focus of this paper is to present a comprehensive review of the main biaxial test systems that have been developed with primary focus on sheet metal testing. The paper includes a review of biaxial tensile test devices and specimen design for biaxial testing.

Biaxial tensile tests of the porcine ascending aorta

Journal of Biomechanics, 2016
One of the aims of this work is to develop an original custom built biaxial set-up to assess mechanical behavior of soft tissues. Stretch controlled biaxial tensile tests are performed and stereoscopic digital image correlation (SDIC) is implemented to measure the 3D components of the generated displacements.

A 30 ton biaxial tensile testing machine

Journal of Strain Analysis, 1969
The machine is intended for a flat-plate testpiece, one face of which has to be unobstucted throughout the test. Plates up to 36 in long, 27 in wide, and 3/4 in thick can be accommodated. Hydraulic rams actuated by air-hydraulic pumps exert completely independent tensions on cruciform test pieces through spherical bushes.

A Study on the Cracked Specimen for Biaxial Tensile Loading Test

Key Engineering Materials, 2006
In the recent years, the studies on the mechanical behaviors of various materials subjected to biaxial loading have been worked since they are more complicated and intrinsically different from those under the simple uniaxial condition. The cruciform specimen without any slots has been commonly used for the goal so far.

Biomechanical properties of porcine cornea; planar biaxial tests versus uniaxial tensile tests

Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials
The cornea is a transparent tissue whose mechanical properties are important for its optical and physiological functions. The mechanical properties of cornea depend on the composition and microstructure of its extracellular matrix, which is composed of collagen fibrils with preferential orientations.

Localized strain measurements of the intervertebral disc annulus during biaxial tensile testing

Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 2014
Both inter-lamellar and intra-lamellar failures of the annulus have been described as potential modes of disc herniation. Attempts to characterize initial lamellar failure of the annulus have involved tensile testing of small tissue samples. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a method of measuring local surface strains through image analysis of ...

Experimental study on rubber biaxial tensile tests

2006
The shape of rubber biaxial tensile specimen and the forms of specimen holding and the specimen holder were discussed. The mechanics characteristics of biaxial rubber tensile was correlated with the rubber fibre direction and loading direction. The rubber hardens or softens along with the load changing. The displacement transmutation percentage and the
