Dynamics of synodic resonant near rectilinear halo orbits in the bicircular four-body problem

Advances in Space Research, 2020
Abstract As evidenced by the Global Exploration Roadmap, international interest exists in a new era of human exploration of the solar system. Such an effort is commencing with the examination of options for maintaining a facility—at times crewed—in an orbit nearby the Moon.

Parametric stability analysis for planar bicircular restricted four-body problem

Astrodynamics, 2018
Stability for the non-autonomous bicircular four-body model is analytically investigated in this study. The governing equation is derived from Newton's law of gravity. When the distance between the infinitesimal mass and the third primary is expanded as Taylor expansions, the governing equation can be regarded as two parts: the unperturbed conservative

Numerical and analytical study of the gravitational capture in the bicircular problem

Advances in Space Research, 2005
Abstract The objective of the present paper is to study the ballistic gravitational capture in a dynamical model that has the presence of four bodies. In particular, the Earth–Moon–Sun–Spacecraft system is considered. This phenomenon is explained in terms of the integration of the perturbing forces with respect to time.

Real-time control of optimal low-thrust transfer to the Sun–Earth L1 halo orbit in the bicircular four-body problem

Acta Astronautica, 2011
Abstract In this article, after describing a procedure to construct trajectories for a spacecraft in the four-body model, a method to correct the trajectory violations is presented. To construct the trajectories, periodic orbits as the solutions of the three-body problem are used.

On the Relation Between the Bicircular Model and the Coupled Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem Approximation

2011
This chapter concerns the relation between the Bicircular model and the Coupled circular restricted three-body problem approximation. The comparison between the differential equations governing the dynamics in the different systems leads to the definition of Region of Prevalence where one restricted model provides the best approximation of the four ...
