General Theory of Symmetric Biconical Antennas
Journal of Applied Physics, 1951This paper presents the input admittance of a symmetric biconical antenna of an arbitrary angle as the limit of a certain sequence of functions. The first term of this sequence approaches the exact expressions for the input admittance as the cone angle approaches either zero or 90°.

Some design considerations for biconical antennas
1984 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005This paper discusses the use of the body of revolution moment method formulation to predict the radiation patterns of biconical antennas, and describes a novel and practical feed point arrangement for fine-tuning the antenna reflection coefficient.

Modified Biconical Antenna for Ultrawideband Applications
2016 10th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2016In this paper a compact antenna for ultrawideband applications is presented. The antenna is based on the biconical antenna design and has two identical elements. Each element is composed of a cone extended with a ring and an inner cylinder. The modification of the well-known biconical structure is made in order to reduce the influence of the radiation ...

Broadband slant linearly polarized biconical antenna
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1993AbstractA broadband biconical antenna with a slant linear polarizer operating over 2‐26 GHz has been designed, fabricated, and tested. The antenna has yielded a nominal VSWR of less than 3.0 and an omni deviation of within ±3.0 dB. This antenna is highly compact and hence will find applications in systems where space requirements are very stringent ...

Optimized Omni-directional Biconical microstrip antenna
2016 IEEE International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology (ICMMT), 2016In this paper, we provide an optimized Biconical coaxial feeding microstrip antenna, based on the Transmission line model. The purpose of our study is to optimize the ceiling antenna performance, completing the signals transceiver and velocity smoothly.

Self-Sustained Biconical Antenna Realized in Additive Manufacturing Technology
2020 14th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), 2020This paper describes the design procedures and manufacturing processes of a self-sustained vertically polarized biconical antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The proposed antenna has been designed for Additive Manufacturing (AM) fabrication to reduce the total weight, simplify the assembly operations and facilitate the installation on the ...

Calibration of biconical antennas using the standard antenna method
1999 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (IEEE Cat. No.99EX147), 2003Antenna arrangements for calibration of EMI biconical antennas are theoretically investigated using the method of moments. It is found that, below the resonance frequency around 70 MHz of a biconical antenna, the standard antenna method yields antenna factors monotonously approaching a far-field value with increasing the antenna separation distance. At

Ultra-wideband balun for biconical antenna structures
2010 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2010Omnidirectional antennas are widely used for different Ultra-Wideband (UWB) applications like channel sounding or Impulse Radio (IR) Communication [1], [2]. A good choice for such applications are 3 dimensional biconical antennas as they exhibit a perfect omnidirectional pattern in the H-plane [3], [4] and a symmetric radiation characteristic in the E ...

Wide-band circular antenna arrays consisting of bicone, semi bicone or bowtie elements
2006 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, 2006Computational results are presented for circular cylindrical antenna arrays consisting of bicone, semi bicone and bowtie elements. The presented data show that the performance of the three circular antenna arrays is very similar, and that each array covers the frequency range 6-15 GHz.
