Monotonicity preserving bicubic interpolation: A progress report

Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1985
A new algorithm for piecewise bicubic interpolation to bivariate data on a rectangular mesh is described. The Hermite form is used to represent the resulting surface. The Hermite derivatives are determined by a five-step procedure that guarantees a monotonic interpolant to monotonic data.

Privacy Preserving Image Scaling Using 2D Bicubic Interpolation Over the Cloud

IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2018
This paper presents an efficient scheme for privacy preserving image scaling over the cloud. The proposed scheme advances the emerging trend of privacy preserving cloud computing and supports desired operations required for image scaling in the encrypted

Natural Cubic and Bicubic Spline Interpolation

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1973
An alternate proof is presented of Kershaw’s result that the $L_\infty $-norm of the error in natural spline interpolation to a function $f \in C^4 [a,b]$ is $O(h^4 )$ in a closed subinterval which is asymptotic to $[a,b]$ as $h \to 0$. The case $f \in C^m [a,b],m = 2$ or 3, is also considered.

Geomagnetic field-based localization with bicubic interpolation for mobile robots [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Control, Automation and Systems, 2015
This paper proposes a novel geomagnetic field-based SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) technique for application to mobile robots. SLAM is an essential technique for mobile robots such as robotic vacuum cleaners to perform their missions autonomously.

Optimal knots allocation in the cubic and bicubic spline interpolation problems

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2019
Abstract Interpolation, together with approximation, are two major and ubiquitous problems in Mathematics, but also in almost every scientific field. Another interesting question is the optimal knots placement when interpolating or approximating certain functions using splines.

An approach of image scaling using DWT and bicubic interpolation

2014 International Conference on Green Computing Communication and Electrical Engineering (ICGCCEE), 2014
Image scaling is an important technique used to scale down or scale up the pictures or video frames to fit to the application. This work proposes a new scaling algorithm for image scaling consisting of a Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based interpolation and bicubic interpolation.

Optimization of the parameters of surfaces by interpolating variational bicubic splines

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2014
In this paper we present an interpolation method from a surface or a data set by the optimization of a quadratic functional in a bicubic splines functional space. The existence and the uniqueness of the solution of this problem are shown and as well a convergence result of the method is established.

Curvilinear Bicubic Spline Fit Interpolation Scheme

Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1973
Modification of the rectangular bicubic spline fit interpolation scheme so as to make it suitable for use with a polar grid pattern. In the proposed modified scheme the interpolation function is expressed in terms of the radial length and the arc length, and the shape of the patch, which is a wedge or a truncated wedge, is taken into account ...

An interpolating piecewise bicubic surface with shape parameters

Computers & Graphics, 2001
Abstract This paper presents a new method for the generation of a surface interpolating a mesh of control points. The surface is generated by piecewise bicubic interpolation and is derived from a classical Coons patch. The introduction of three shape parameters (namely the tension, continuity and bias parameters) provides the surface designer with a ...
