Map‐matching for cycling travel data in urban area

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems
To promote urban sustainability, many cities are adopting bicycle‐friendly policies, leveraging GPS trajectories as a vital data source. However, the inherent errors in GPS data necessitate a critical preprocessing step known as map‐matching.

Generalized bicycles

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 1997
Let \(G=(V,E)\) be a graph with \(n\) vertices, and let \(M\) be a (left) modul over a principal ideal domain \(D\). Let \(W_0(M)\) and \(W_1(M)\) denote the modules of all vertex and edge weightings over \(M\), respectively. An incidence weighting \(\eta\) of \(G\) is a weighting of each incident vertex-edge pair \((v, e)\) with an element of \(D ...

Control for an autonomous bicycle [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 1995 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
The control of nonholonomic and underactuated systems with symmetry is illustrated by the problem of controlling a bicycle. We derive a controller which, using steering and rear-wheel torque, causes a model of a riderless bicycle to recover its balance from a near fall as well as converge to a time parameterized path in the ground plane.
