Firm Productivity and Exit During Economic Crisis: Does Market Potential Foster Resilience?

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the relationship between firm productivity, market potential, and firm exit over the economic cycle, focusing on the COVID‐19 crisis. Using Spanish firm‐level data (2011–2022), we analyse how market potential shapes the link between productivity and survival.

Melanism in salamanders: effects of insularity, sex and size on dorsal colouration in Salamandra salamandra

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
In this study we tested the effects of insularity on amphibian colouration using the fire salamander as a model system. Although increased melanism was not a consistent pattern across all islands, salamanders from one island exhibited higher proportions of black pigmentation than mainland populations, while insular populations overall showed reduced ...

Plant genotypic diversity and defoliation jointly shape root exudation, fungal communities, and carbon and nitrogen cycling

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Experimental design. Summary Intraspecific plant diversity is a major component of community diversity, yet its role in shaping plant–microbial interactions and soil functioning remains poorly understood. In particular, plant genotypic diversity may modulate ecosystem responses to defoliation, a key driver of ecosystem processes in grazed systems.
