Phytochemistry and Bioactivities of Biflavonoids

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Science, 2017
Biflavonoids are a category of naturally dimers composed of monomeric flavonoid, which have been most widely studied in recent decades for the swift progress of biflavonoids relative techniques. This article first reviews phytochemistry and bioactivities of biflavonoids.

Biflavonoids in the julianiaceae

Phytochemistry, 1988
Abstract Amentoflavone and agathisflavone are reported in the leaves of species belonging in both genera of the Julianiaceae. This strongly supports a close affinity with the Anacardiaceae, and in particular with the tribe Rhoeae.

Biflavonoids from Podocalyx loranthoides

Fitoterapia, 2003
Analysis of the ethyl acetate extract of the aerials parts of Podocalyx loranthoides led to the isolation of I 7, II 4'-dimethylamentoflavone (1) and II 4'-methylamentoflavone (2). Compound (1) gave a moderate effect against Leishmania mexicana promastigotes.

Biflavonoids from Ouratea multiflora

Fitoterapia, 2001
A new flavone dimer, 3-hydroxy-4',5,7-trimethoxyflavone-(6-->8")-3"-hydroxy-3"',4"', 5",7"-tetramethoxyflavone, together with amenthoflavone, have been isolated from the leaves of Ouratea multiflora. Its structure was established by spectroscopic methods, including two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy.

Biflavonoids as novel antituberculosis agents

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2001
A series of naturally occurring and synthetic biflavonoids was evaluated for inhibitory activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv (Mtb). Compounds 6, 24, and 25 demonstrated 96, 95, and 87% inhibition, respectively, at a screening concentration of 12.5 microg/mL.

Electrochemical synthesis of biflavonoids

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 2013
Biologically active biflavonoids have consistently attracted the attention of researchers [1]. However, only a few of these compounds have a broad spectrum of biological activity. This has prompted scientists to prepare their semi-synthetic and synthetic analogs [2]. Thus, several approaches including metal-catalyzed cross coupling, oxidative coupling,
