On the bifurcation buckling and vibration of porous nanobeams
Composite Structures, 2020Abstract In the present paper, effects of porous material on bifurcation buckling and natural vibrations of nanobeams are investigated based on the higher-order nonlocal strain gradient theory. The displacement field of the nanobeam satisfies assumptions of Reddy higher-order shear deformation beam theory.

Bifurcation, pre- and post-buckling analysis of frame structures
Computers & Structures, 1978Abstract A procedure is developed for investigating the stability of complex structures that consist of an assembly of stiffened rectangular panels and three-dimensional beam elements. Such panels often form one of the basic structural components of an aircraft or ship structure.

Nonlinear Isometric Bifurcation and Shell Buckling
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1977AbstractA simple concept for studying the lower stability limit of shell structures which is based on the theory of isometric transformation of surfaces is outlined. The influence of imperfection on the lower stability limit is discussed in the case of axially compressed cylindrical shells.

Multiple Buckling and Codimension-Three Bifurcation Phenomena of a Nonlinear Oscillator
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2014In this paper, we investigate the global bifurcations and multiple bucklings of a nonlinear oscillator with a pair of strong irrational nonlinear restoring forces, proposed recently by Han et al. [2012]. The equilibrium stabilities of multiple snap-through buckling system under static loading are analyzed.

Axisymmetric and bifurcation creep buckling of externally pressurised spherical shells
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1980Abstract The creep buckling behavior of a geometrically imperfect complete spherical shell subjected to a uniform external pressure is examined using Sanders' equilibrium and kinematic equations appropriately modified to include the influence of initial stress-free imperfections in the radius.

Flexural and flexural-torsional bifurcation of locally buckled beam-columns
Thin-Walled Structures, 1997Abstract The paper describes the overall bifurcation behaviour of locally buckled I-sections in combined compression and major axis bending. The overall bifurcation loads are calculated using the tangent rigidities of the locally buckled cross-section for minor axis flexure and warping torsion.

Bifurcation buckling and free vibrations of cylindrical shells under pressure
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1991Abstract This paper presents asymptotic solutions for the free vibrations of a circular cylindrical shell subjected to uniform pressure. A simple formula is derived for the natural frequency, which is valid for all possible combinations of the boundary conditions characterizing simply supported, clamped, and free ends. The formula can also be used to

Bifurcation Criterion and Plastic Buckling of Plates and Columns
Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1950If a bifurcation of equilibrium paths occurs as the loading is varied on a conservative system, the preferred path is usually obtained by use of a stability criterion. However, even if the definition of stability is modified so as no longer to depend on the existence of a potential energy function, a stability criterion may not be useful if the system ...
