On the bifurcation buckling and vibration of porous nanobeams
Composite Structures, 2020Abstract In the present paper, effects of porous material on bifurcation buckling and natural vibrations of nanobeams are investigated based on the higher-order nonlocal strain gradient theory. The displacement field of the nanobeam satisfies assumptions of Reddy higher-order shear deformation beam theory.

Bifurcation buckling of unsymmetrically laminated plates
Composites Engineering, 1994Abstract It is well known that the presence of bending-extension coupling in unsymmetrically laminated plates gives rise to bending curvatures under the action of pure in-plane loading. In view of this behaviour, it is generally believed that bifurcation buckling could normally not take place.

Nonlinear Isometric Bifurcation and Shell Buckling
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1977AbstractA simple concept for studying the lower stability limit of shell structures which is based on the theory of isometric transformation of surfaces is outlined. The influence of imperfection on the lower stability limit is discussed in the case of axially compressed cylindrical shells.

Bifurcation of locally buckled members
Thin-Walled Structures, 1997The paper presents a general bifurcation analysis of members that are locally buckled in the fundamental state. The members are assumed to be geometrically perfect in the overall sense such that bifurcation of the locally buckled member in an overall mode may occur. The analysis applies to arbitrary types of loads and support conditions.

Plastic bifurcation buckling of lined pipe under bending
European Journal of Mechanics, A/Solids, 2014Abstract Linepipe used in offshore and other operations is often protected from corrosive contents by lining internally a carbon steel carrier pipe with a thin layer of corrosion resistant material. In many applications the lined pipeline can experience bending or compression severe enough for the liner to buckle and collapse inside an intact carrier

Buckling of Cooling-Tower Shells: Bifurcation Results
Journal of the Structural Division, 1975This paper describes studies of bifurcation buckling of hyperboloids used for large-scale cooling towers. Those studies include the effects of flexible supports, combined loadings from wind, dead weight, and temperature, shell cracking, different variations in the wind pressure distribution, and changes in the shell thickening.

Plastic Bifurcation Buckling of Toroidal Shells
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1979The buckling characteristics of shells with double curvature is an important design consideration of such structures. Aircraft structural components are commonly of the double curvature type. Classical elastic buckling of toroidal shell segments with positive and negative Gaussian curvatures under pressure loading is given by Stein and McElmann.

Bifurcation buckling from a membrane stress state
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2012SUMMARYA membrane stress state may be considered as a general stress state in which mechanical constraints have been imposed. Therefore, it would appear that there are mathematical subsidiary conditions for bifurcation buckling from such a stress state. In this work, such conditions are derived in the frame of the Finite Element Method.
