Viscoplastic bifurcation buckling of plates
AIAA Journal, 1991A method is proposed according to which the bifurcation buckling load of inelastic rate-sensitive plates subjected to specified boundary conditions can be deduced from the solution of the corresponding perfectly elastic problem under the same boundary conditions.

Bifurcation buckling from a membrane stress state
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2012SUMMARYA membrane stress state may be considered as a general stress state in which mechanical constraints have been imposed. Therefore, it would appear that there are mathematical subsidiary conditions for bifurcation buckling from such a stress state. In this work, such conditions are derived in the frame of the Finite Element Method.

Bifurcation buckling conditions of FGM plates with different boundaries
Composite Structures, 2020Abstract This study is dedicated to understand the possibility of bending before the bifurcation buckling of the functionally graded (FG) plate which has the unsymmetrical material property distribution according to the its midplane. Based on the midplane formulation, the dimensionless critical buckling loads (DCBLs) of FG plates are computed by ...

Plastic bifurcation buckling of lined pipe under bending
European Journal of Mechanics - A/Solids, 2014Abstract Linepipe used in offshore and other operations is often protected from corrosive contents by lining internally a carbon steel carrier pipe with a thin layer of corrosion resistant material. In many applications the lined pipeline can experience bending or compression severe enough for the liner to buckle and collapse inside an intact carrier

Bifurcation buckling of unsymmetrically laminated plates
Composites Engineering, 1994Abstract It is well known that the presence of bending-extension coupling in unsymmetrically laminated plates gives rise to bending curvatures under the action of pure in-plane loading. In view of this behaviour, it is generally believed that bifurcation buckling could normally not take place.

Response Variability of Structures Subjected to Bifurcation Buckling
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1992The paper presents a new analytical method for the investigation of the response variability of structures subjected to bifurcation buckling. The method is applied to the buckling of the axialy compressed thin cylindrical shell. The study demonstrates the conceptual simplicity of the method, its numerical efficiency, and its capability to account for ...

Bifurcation Buckling Analysis of Delaminated Composites Using Global-Local Approach
AIAA Journal, 1997A global-local finite element method to analyze multiple delamination in composite laminates has been developed. To enhance computational efficiency, layerwise elements are used in the delaminated zone and first order beam bending elements are used in the undelaminated zone. A transition element is used between global and local zones.
