Inferring bifurcation diagrams with transformers

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science
The construction of bifurcation diagrams is an essential component of understanding nonlinear dynamical systems. The task can be challenging when one knows the equations of the dynamical system and becomes much more difficult if only the underlying data associated with the system are available.

Hero’s journey in bifurcation diagram

Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2012
Abstract The hero’s journey is a narrative structure identified by several authors in comparative studies on folklore and mythology. This storytelling template presents the stages of inner metamorphosis undergone by the protagonist after being called to an adventure.

Experimentally Observed Bifurcation Diagrams

2002
Extensive studies of structures and materials undergoing perfect and imperfect bifurcation have been conducted. Bifurcation of structures can be highlighted, e.g., by Ziegler, 1968, 1977 [196]; Thompson and Hunt, 1973, 1984 [174], [175]; Ben-Haim and Elishakoff, 1990 [14]; Bažant and Cedolin, 1991 [12]; and references therein.

Geometry of bifurcation diagrams

Journal of Soviet Mathematics, 1984
This paper contains some results on the geometrical properties of bifurcation varieties of sets and bifurcation varieties of functions for the simple singularities on manifolds with boundary. Let \(f(x):({\mathbb{C}}^ n,0)\to ({\mathbb{C}},0)\) be a function with critical point 0 and \(F(x,\lambda)=f(x)+\sum\lambda_ i\phi_ i(x), i=0,...,\mu -1 ...

Germs of bifurcation diagrams and SN–SN families

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2021
We study the geometry of the bifurcation diagrams of the families of vector fields in the plane. Countable number of pairwise non-equivalent germs of bifurcation diagrams in the two-parameter families is constructed. Previously, this effect was discovered for three parameters only.

Bifurcation diagram of coupled thermoacoustic chaotic oscillators

Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2018
A thermoacoustic chaotic oscillator is a fluid system that presents thermally induced chaotic oscillations of a gas column. This study experimentally reports a bifurcation diagram when two thermoacoustic chaotic oscillators are dissipatively coupled to each other.

Time series-based bifurcation diagram reconstruction

Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1999
The main idea that the authors use is the ability of neural networks to learn general solutions to problems if given an appropriate set of specific examples. In the centre of interest is the problem of reconstructing bifurcation diagrams of dynamical systems without the knowledge of its functional form and its dependence of the parameter. By using time

Bifurcation diagrams of quadratic differentials

Comptes Rendus de l'Académie des Sciences - Series I - Mathematics, 1997
The author studies the versal deformations of quadratic differentials \(z^{m+1} dz^2\). Such a differential element defines a couple of orthogonal foliations on the Riemannian surface of \(z\). The main result of the paper is that the bifurcation diagram in the basis of versal deformation of the singularity \(A_m\) (i.e. of the quadratic differential \(
