On the foundations of bifurcation theory

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1994
Persistence of absorbing property of sets is proved for perturbations of general semisystems in a metric space. The generalization of the persistence theorem for asymptotic stability of an invariant set is obtained, and sufficient conditions of a new type for occurrence of bifurcation of an invariant set are found.

Local Bifurcation Theory [PDF]

open access: possible, 1983
The word bifurcation means division into two and is used in a wide sense to indicate every qualitative topological metamorphosis of a picture under the variation of parameters on which the object being studied depends. The objects can be diverse: for example, real or complex curves or surfaces, functions or mappings, manifolds or fiber bundles, vector ...

Theory of Bifurcations

2015
Bifurcation means a structural change in the orbit of a system. The bifurcation of a system had been first reported by the French mathematician Henri Poincare in his work. The study of bifurcation is concerned with how the structural change occurs when the parameter(s) are changing.

ON THE BIFURCATION AND REPRESSION THEORIES [PDF]

open access: possibleFolia Linguistica Historica, 1997

Group-Theoretic Bifurcation Theory

2002
Fundamentals of group-theoretic bifurcation theory are introduced as a mathematical methodology to deal with agglomeration in economic geography, which is captured in this book as bifurcation phenomena of systems with dihedral or hexagonal symmetry. The framework of group-theoretic bifurcation analysis of economic agglomeration is illustrated for the ...

Topics in Bifurcation Theory

1983
In this lecture we consider the effects of symmetry on bifurcation problems. Even a simple reflectional symmetry can have important consequences. For example, recall the two problems with the elastic from Lectures 1 and 2 which exhibited pitchfork bifurcations. Why should the pitchfork ever be seen?
