Gated Recurrent Units Viewed Through the Lens of Continuous Time Dynamical Systems
Gated recurrent units (GRUs) are specialized memory elements for building recurrent neural networks. Despite their incredible success on various tasks, including extracting dynamics underlying neural data, little is understood about the specific dynamics

A high‐resolution 3D‐printed tumor‐on‐a‐chip platform sustains breast cancer tissues at in vivo–like cell densities through vascular‐like perfusion. This engineered system recapitulates grade‐dependent molecular features and exhibits drug‐resistance profiles that uniquely align with clinically relevant Cmax values.

Tipping the Balance: A Criticality Perspective
Cell populations are often characterised by phenotypic heterogeneity in the form of two distinct subpopulations. We consider a model of tumour cells consisting of two subpopulations: non-cancer promoting (NCP) and cancer-promoting (CP).

Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

Bifurcation of Hyperbolic Planforms [PDF]
Motivated by a model for the perception of textures by the visual cortex in primates, we analyse the bifurcation of periodic patterns for nonlinear equations describing the state of a system defined on the space of structure tensors, when these equations are further invariant with respect to the isometries of this space.

Meniscus‐Guided Interfacial Ring‐by‐Ring Assembly for In Situ Fabrication of Tubular Hydrogels
A tubular hydrogel fabrication method leveraging the meniscus effect at the oil‐water interface is presented. UV irradiation across the concave surface of the photocurable hydrogel precursor induces the formation of ring‐like hydrogel structures. Sequential ring‐by‐ring assembly within microchannels enables the construction of arteriole‐scale hydrogel ...

ON THE SEPARATRIS LOOP BIFURCATIONS OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL PIECEWISE-SMOOTH DYNAMIC SYSTEM
Background. Bifurcations in generic one- and two-parameter families of smooth dynamical systems on the plane are almost completely studied. For applications, piecewise-smooth dynamical systems in the plane are of considerable interest.

The classic Lotka–Volterra model is a two-dimensional system of differential equations used to model population dynamics among two-species: a predator and its prey. In this article, we consider a modified three-dimensional fractional-order Lotka–Volterra

De Novo Autogenic Engineered Living Functional Materials
A versatile platform for de novo autogenic engineered living materials is presented, leveraging protein mining, computational modeling, and synthetic biology. By reprogramming the Escherichia coli curli machinery with β‐solenoid proteins from non‐model bacteria, macroscopic biomaterials with enhanced mechanical properties, UV‐C irradiation protection ...

Cloning of Chimera States in a Large Short-term Coupled Multiplex Network of Relaxation Oscillators
A new phenomenon of the chimera states cloning in a large two-layer multiplex network with short-term couplings has been discovered and studied. For certain values of strength and time of multiplex interaction, in the initially disordered layer, a state ...
