Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

Body dissatisfaction, appearance investment and wellbeing: how older obese men orient to 'aesthetic health' [forthcoming] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Most research on male body image to date has focused on young men using quantitative methods. The study reported here is based on qualitative interviews with a sample of older men (n = 30) on a weight management programme, and we asked them about body ...

Shellac‐Mediated Assembly of Nanoparticles for mRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A shellac‐mediated nanoparticle assembly strategy is presented, involving the complexation of mRNA and low‐molecular‐weight cationic molecules (e.g., polyethyleneimine, chitosan, lipids, and poly‐l‐lysine), followed by capping with shellac. This nanoparticle platform enables mRNA transfection following intravenous injection and facilitates gene editing

Plant‐Produced Viral Nanoparticles Decorated with Nanobodies Against HER2 Improve Retention and Recruitment of Immune Cells in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Potato virus X is a filamentous RNA plant virus that can be engineered into a molecular tool for cancer therapy. We produced genetically‐encoded virus‐derived nanoparticles decorated with nanobodies targeting cancer cell receptors, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2).

Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,

Humour translation in the animated television series “sheep in the big city”

open access: yes, 2016
Humoro vertimas animaciniame seriale „Sheep in the Big City“ Nepaisant to, jog žodžių žaismas dažnai yra laikytinas neišverčiamu, tekstų, kuriuose žodžių žaismas yra vienas dominuojančių elementų egzistuoja. Šis reiškinys atrodo paradoksalus, todėl šio darbo tikslas yra išsiaiškinti, kokiais metodais yra verčiami panašūs tekstai ir ar tuos metodus ...

(Tory) anarchy in the UK: The very peculiar practice of tory anarchism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The idea of ‘Tory Anarchism’ is reasonably well known but largely unanalysed in either popular or academic literature. Tory Anarchism refers to a group of apparently disparate figures in English popular and political culture whose work has, in part ...

Non‐Continuous Iridescent Variable Structural Color Based on Metallic Surface Periodic Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents an ink‐free laser nanofabrication technique that generates periodic arched microstructures on titanium surfaces, achieving non‐continuous iridescent dual‐color switching. The ridge and side flanks of these structures possess distinct oxide film thicknesses, enabling angle‐dependent selective reflection of specific wavelengths.
